.................................................................
The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.
FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.
I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

I found something you can take with you today. It will be a hit with both the kids and the adults.

Good morning BIS
It looks like it will be another beautiful day here in the west. It's getting cooler at night but still quite warm during the day.

Off to pick apples at the farm today. Kids are looking forward to making applesauce.
Homemade Applesauce
2 Golden Delicious or other sweet apples* 2 Granny Smith or other tart apples 2 Fuji apples 6 1/2-inch x 2-inch strips lemon or orange zest 1 vanilla bean, broken or cut crosswise into 3 pieces 1/3 cup frozen apple juice concentrate Quarter the Golden or other sweet apples. Cut away core from each wedge. Coarsely chop the wedges. Place chopped apples in deep, heavy saucepan.
Peel, quarter and core remaining apples. Chop coarsely and add to pot. Add zest, vanilla bean and juice concentrate.
Set pot over medium-high heat and bring contents to a boil. Immediately reduce heat to medium and cover pot. Simmer apples until sweet ones are tender but pieces hold their shape and other apples fall apart, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, uncover and cool. Remove vanilla bean, which can be rinsed and left out to dry, then reused up to 6 times.
When serving, include a piece of zest with each serving. Store, tightly covered in refrigerator, up to 1 week.
Makes 4 cups or 8 servings.

Homemade applesauce sounds delicious and the outing with anticpation of the end result must be exiting for the little ones.
Have loads of fun.

It looks like it will be another beautiful day here in the west. It's getting cooler at night but still quite warm during the day.
It's beautiful here in the east also. Nice cool breeze today with bright sunshine. I love this time of year.
Rebuilding my daughter's computer today (she's going to be so happy)
In case I don't get online later, hope you have a nice day.

Where my books go
All the words that I utter,
And all the words that I write,
Must spread out their wings untiring,
And never rest in their flight,
Till they come where your sad, sad heart is,
And sing to you in the night,
Beyond where the waters are moving,
Storm-darken'd or starry bright.

Wispy willows swaying in the breeze;
puffy white clouds floating above the trees.
A butterfly meandering aimlessly;
the sound of the waves rolling on the sea.
The sweet scent of flowers on a spring day;
watching laughing children as they play.
These simple pleasures, my friend so true;
I want to share them all with you.

Hey everyone. You guys look like you're having so much fun. I feel left out. LOL I'm slaving away down in Florida on our bug collection. I have to get ready for my classes tomorrow. One bug class, one American History class and 1/2 of an English class.
I'm really, really, really worn out. Someone offer me a room please? I need a vacation. Waaaaaa....
(Aqua my dear....I am trying to finish what I promised you. Freepmail me your address so I can send you some things).
Many blessings to everyone this week. Much love.
