They use special Palm fronds here too.. I guess the Indians must get them out of the jungle or Everglades. If they were like the ones in the yard we might have attempted it, but they're not.. They look sort of like Fan palms, but much thicker and heavier..
To: westmex
Great pic. Wow that has nice color..
To: grannie9
There are a number of types of palms in Baja. I don't know if they only use one type or not...I've watched them thatch, they do wet the fonds down before starting buy sprinkling water on the pile of fonds...The pattern really looks neat from the under side..I have some pics, but don't have them scaned.....Oh well....

That is a magnificent pic, and yes I am frozen. ;-)
Just stopped by to see if I could learn more regarding the new restrictions on DC airspace. It took awhile, with having to wade through all the moose, cheese, etc jokes.
If I didn't live here maybe I'd be yukking it up too, but somehow I doubt it.
Maybe I should take up listening to the radio...
To: westmex
I've seen them make them in Mex too. They weave the palms..and wire them and in Cancun with the wind they usually net them too.
Here they are just layed down over the wooden frame with some wire underneath. I don't think they last as long here. Not as good workmanship.. ;)

Is that a rediculous thread or what? I got disgusted and left it. No info, but lots of jokes. This war etc, seems to be such a joke to so many on here..
Maybe it's their way of being unafraid..
Like Westy says.. What do I know.. ;)
To: grannie9
I posted my feelings on that thread, and I pity any fool who flames me over it. Someone said it was gallows humor, a way of blowing off steam.
Of course, that poster lives in Indiana or somewhere, so it's not like their life is affected by any of this...
To: Kathleen
I saw your post.. and good for you.. It seems that the more things get serious, the more people get rediculous. If you have to wade thru all that crap to get something out of a thread, why bother reading them?
To: grannie9
War is a big game till one finds themselves among the dying....Then it is no longer pretty...
I saw a clip of some GI laughing about the Iraquis running when the Yanks came to town....Heard the same thing at the start of the Korean Police Action, all we had to do was march down the road and every g**k would surrender..Didn't happen...We damn near got run off that peninsula...Wasn't so funny then...
But what do I know !!!!

Exactly. I believe that this place will ultimately marginalize itself as a credible news source if the main focus of breaking news becomes about acting out and playing class clown.
To: Kathleen
Seems like there is no middle ground anymore. You're either as serious, as in mashing the abuse button, or you're a jokster, and everything is a laugh..
Where has all the real discussion gone to?
To: grannie9
I don't think I've ever seen anyone dressed in black working outside in the Florida sunshine....something tells me Al will be in residence on the couch right now, and out cold by 7:30...he planned it ;-)
Can you explain why you are having a new shower built on your deck?
To: grannie9
I have no idea. You have to wade through so much BS to get to any real discussion of events lately. I am beginning to wonder why I waste my time.
To: grannie9
Why, the real discussion is right here on the DD....at least, that's what Sundog says!It was the deep insights that kept him fascinated and enthralled all this time ;-)

Suppertime here.....BBL......

You're right Westy... it's not some game.. It's damned serious, and more so today than before. The world is a lot smaller now than it was then..
We could be hit with all kinds of stuff, there and here, and worldwide.
I'm getting a little sick of the Drugstore Cowboys.. Personally, I'm damned frightened and I do have a family I think about.. Maybe that's considered selfish, but that's the way it is..
To: habs4ever
I didn't see the shower. Isn't he the greatest.. Ghod love him..
I love outside showers.. ;)
He was dressed in black because he had a Johnny Cash kind of day, and it's coooool..weather-wise I mean... silly.

Al has the burning ring of fire? Garn, that is waaaaaaaaay to much info..it was your damned mac salad ;-)
Next time it rains, make sure to grab the shampoo before you head out ;-)
To: grannie9
I just posted over there again. I'm certainly not going to win friends with the class clowns tonight...lol.
To: grannie9; habs4ever
I love outside showers.. ;) And so will Dean...;-)
