Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Toy poodles. They will be very small. The ones running around the house were cute as could be and very lovable. One (a miniature, not a toy, so a bit bigger) actually sat on my lap, wrapped it's front leg around my arm and "hugged" me, with it's head resting on my shoulder!
Here is a picture of it.

Isn't it a doll!?

Sean Astin arrives at the Golden Globes...
More Sean Astin and the Golden Globes!
He did a nice interview on the carpet... talked about RoTK...
To: HairOfTheDog
I like Sean Astin - I would worry about helicopters myself.
To: 2Jedismom
Oh yeah.
To: HairOfTheDog
Oh, those things. Is TTT up for anything?

2J, they are just adorable!! So your Mom will have 2 little ones to manage, huh? Looks like you and the boys will be doing some puppy duty also in the next year. I think the boys will have such fun because the pups are so small, and from what you said, won't get that much larger!
BTW your Mom's a cutie, too!

I guess the chart was made so AuraBoy could figure out what the h*ll Bilbo meant in that sentence. However, it still hurts my brain, when I am not laughing at it.I thought I had gotten good at parsing during the klinton administration, but that sentence is a toughie, even when diagrammed. My interpretation is that Bilbo is saying he likes some, would like to like some more, more, and there are some he DOESN'T like.
That reminds me of the line PJ added a few seconds before (I don't remember who said it): "Hasn't Bilbo been sampling some of the Old Gaffer's home brew?" "Well, yes he has, but that's not the point!"

I have trouble knowing where my i and e are supposed to go...it seems like the "i before e except after c" doesn't work all the time!LOL! I was just going over this with our daughter and her friend today who said they also had trouble sometimes. It is " 'i' before 'e' except after 'c', unless it sounds like 'a' as in 'neighbor or weigh'. So you'd have 'niece', but 'receive', and 'neigh'.
So, Class, that't the end of our Grammar lesson for the day!

Ah. My grandmother watches those shows religiously but I didn't dare ask her or she'd have been on about nothing for three hours.

Actually, I think it is a painting rather than a photo, so it may not be our archer that screwed up!I've lost track of the number of times I've seen photos, and even videos, reversed. Something doesn't seem right, then I notice it's "wrong-handed".
Sometimes it's done to fit into a space in an ad facing the way they want. Sometimes it's done when there is some wording somewhere that they don't want to give free advertising (like a sign or a tee shirt). Sometimes they just don't care, or even know that there IS a difference.
Of course, even "left-handed" items aren't true mirror images of the original. A left-handled Remington 700 still has screws that turn in the same direction as the original, and springs still coiled in the same direction. So it's not a perfect mirror duplicate.

Elijah Wood deeply deserved a nomination.

I agree!

I saw images of Legolas from last year where the negative was flipped over - same pic.... mirror image.
I think that caledar are just paintings, by someone who does not have a friend such as osagebowman to guide them.

Me too!

Did you ride the Crescent while the Southern had it, or after Amtrak took it over? The Crescent held out for years, before submitting to Amtrak. It was a great train. Supposedly is now still one of Amtraks best, FWIW.
Wasn't she beautiful? Those are General Motors E9's pulling her, I believe, in that picture.

You watchin these awards?.... the Joan Rivers Red carpet thing just started here on E, so we haven't missed the Sean Astin entrance....
Joan Rivers is really drunk, and she is wearin' the drapes from a whore house! Should be fun!
To: HairOfTheDog
LOL...I wondered what was up with her. How bizarre. Yes, I am watching, sort of, I checked into the chatroom (I think), but no one was there.
Oh my, she really is drunk isn't she? Hehe
