The real story habs is that our gran is not as used to dealing with us savvy financial people. I tried to explain to her that real big operators use a Letter of Credit from the Banks. Does she think that Bill Gates, the inventor of the computer pays for his stuff with a Sears card? No sirree Bob, he just waves a letter of credit and buys all the stuff he wants.

I showed my letter of credit to gran and read the words to her very slowly, as she is a little shortsighted and I also suspect a trifle deef. There is was, as plain as day, “Mr AC sir, You have been PRE-APPROVED for our golden platinum halogen …” And best of all, I only had to pay for 25% of what I charged. They only do that to the trustworthiest customers. This was from a BANK not a fly-by-night outfit like United Airlines, here today and gone tomorrow. These people will not fold up and sneak away after I owe them money. What more guarantees of my solvency and excellent character could the old biddy want?

Of course, she is used to dealing with low lives and scum, so she is naturally suspicious. Although, she should have recognized that as an English gentleman I would not be as devious and devoid of all moral compass as our unfortunate Canadian cousins. But alas, to Americans all foreigners look alike.

So trade is bad. Tough lady, turning away your best customer away could be partly to blame - ya think?

ACe, she doesn't want your pre-approved CC, she wants a new outhouse to go with her trailer.She needs security that only property can provide, and a fancy new outhouse is just the ticket ;-)Her lack of teeth would be in hinderance in other such "people oriented" lines of work, but it has improved her weekly gross immeasurably.
