Things have been busy around here; our daughter and I made some earrings and necklaces to sell at a craft show put on by a homeschool group. Then we made candy to sell at our Church this week to benefit a group in Worcester that works with poor and homeless families. And we're all doing activities at the new YMCA that opened in November.
In among all that, I have gotten just about all my shopping done! I have one more thing to get for our #1 son and a couple of CDs for Sir SuziQ and I'm finished! I've done the vast majority of my shopping by internet this year. I've only bought 2 or 3 things locally! I do love that Web shopping!! Now the hard part; I have to clear out a space in my basement craft room to do all the wrapping!
Oh the boo-hooing that went on yesterday! Mr. Betty came home at lunch to see her before they go and the poor child could barely drive to our lunch date she was crying so hard. Then I started and we were a mess by the time we got to Steak and Shake!
I've been up all night wrapping presents for them to take along and will deliver them this morning before they leave.
I have a feeling the flood gates will be WIDE open!
I shall brave the world with no make-up on this morning! Thank goodness for sunglasses!
Oh and p.s., thanks a heap for the internet Alsyboy!
Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. We might get Don Nickles as Majority Leader after all. :-)
And thank you so much for the new thread!
Since I was up all night I'll probably take a nap after I get back from the Bon Vovage, but I'll be back!
Oh no, it doesn't show I've been up all night!
Let's try that again.
Hope you have a safe trip to DC! Accidentally on purpose step on a liberal's toe for me. ;-) whew!
HOCKEY fanatic Tim Robbins can dish it out on the ice, but he apparently can't take it. Our sources say he bullies management at Chelsea Piers into getting opposing players suspended if they get too rough with him in the hockey rink. During a pickup game a few months ago, the 6-foot-5 inch actor, who is Susan Sarandon's long-time live-in, allegedly ran into a smaller opposing player, fine arts dealer Michael Black. The impact sent Robbins to the ice with a concussion.
Robbins then successfully lobbied to get Black banned from the rink for three months. Now, Chelsea Piers officials are making Black wear a white shirt and play only on Robbins' side to avoid any future altercations. ....
"The management at Chelsea Piers is trying to placate Robbins because he's good for business," says another source. "The fact is, he's just a big whiner who complains to management every time he's touched." Full story, Page Six

DICK Morris had some plain-spoken advice for Al Gore at the opening night intermission of "Dance of the Vampires." The political strategist told Gore: "If you want any chance in 2004, you've got to ditch Clinton now." [Gee, ya think?]
Observers guessed Morris meant getting rid of Bill Clinton loyalist Terry McAuliffe as chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Also on hand: Newsmax.com's Christopher Ruddy and Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Ted Kennedy.
Al Gore might boast hearty journalism chops from his pre-politics days as a reporter [Yes, he won the typewriter ribbon with peanut clusters as a military 'journalist'], but the former veep is no drama critic.
"I loved this show," Gore declared at Monday night's opening party for Broadway's "Dance of the Vampires" at the Copacabana. (If you missed the reviews, critics pretty much agree that the musical has a lot in common with its subjects: It sucks.)
In fact, the potential 2004 presidential candidate was so taken by the performance that he opted for playtime over politics.
"I prefer to meet with these folks right now," he said, gesturing to one of the show's producers, Lawrence Horowitz, when asked about tensions in the Middle East. "I've been doing press conferences all day on Iraq." [Yeah, Al, we really care what you have to say about Iraq, loser.]

More on the Goron:
Former Vice President Al Gore denied late Tuesday that he and Bill Clinton turned down an offer from the government of Sudan to have Osama bin Laden arrested and extradited to the U.S. in a deal that could have prevented the 9/11 attacks.
But when he was pressed on the episode, the former VP told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes," "Well, I'm not familiar with that particular allegation."
Gore sounded confused about the bin Laden extradition deal despite President Clinton's acknowledgment earlier this year that such an arrangement was indeed offered, but that he turned it down. full story at NewsMax
Sorry to hear about you phone troubles.
I have a question for all of you, does your high school football team's playing field have artificial turf? Or an olympic sized swimming pool?
Our school district is attempting to tack these two necessities on to a needed building renovation project, and it has the elderly taxpayers in a frenzy. The district business manager has projected the increase will only cost the average taxpayer $60 more, but others have projected it will be more like $350. Some of those protesting are using the DNC talking points about not having to chose between paying their taxes and food or medical care, which does make them sound a little nutty.
Most of the people supporting the project are young taxpayers whose children are students, and those employed by the school district. I was surprised to learn that I was the only PTA officer who opposes these unnecessary additions. Bummer.
These folks need to remember that someday, God willing, they'll grow old and will no longer be able to work. They may then be in a similar position as some of the older residents are in now.
I was disappointed at my meeting to have a friend remark (This was a pubbie, mind you)that the taxpayer group could have saved money toward their taxes if they had just not purchased the matching T-shirts they were wearing. Whose money is it, after all? Sheesh!
