Sorry to hear about you phone troubles.
I have a question for all of you, does your high school football team's playing field have artificial turf? Or an olympic sized swimming pool?
Our school district is attempting to tack these two necessities on to a needed building renovation project, and it has the elderly taxpayers in a frenzy. The district business manager has projected the increase will only cost the average taxpayer $60 more, but others have projected it will be more like $350. Some of those protesting are using the DNC talking points about not having to chose between paying their taxes and food or medical care, which does make them sound a little nutty.
Most of the people supporting the project are young taxpayers whose children are students, and those employed by the school district. I was surprised to learn that I was the only PTA officer who opposes these unnecessary additions. Bummer.
These folks need to remember that someday, God willing, they'll grow old and will no longer be able to work. They may then be in a similar position as some of the older residents are in now.
I was disappointed at my meeting to have a friend remark (This was a pubbie, mind you)that the taxpayer group could have saved money toward their taxes if they had just not purchased the matching T-shirts they were wearing. Whose money is it, after all? Sheesh!
