Good morning. What a poopy morning it's been.

I have been on the phone with AT&T for 2 1/2 hours so far. I have spoken with 19 people and none have come up with a definitave answer as why one of my phone lines is out.

Monday I was told that it was a bad wire and someone would be out yesterday by 5. Of course no one showed up. Then I was told that the phone was disconnected. Of course all the other lines worked, so that really wasn't the case.

This morning no one can decide what's going on with my account other than my main number, the number that I have had for 10 years, is no longer available. MY OWN NUMBER ISN'T AVAILABLE TO ME! This is crazy, and frankly, I am losing my cool. I can't imagine the nightmare I will go through to try to figure out all the businesses in the country that I work with and old friends and organizations that I am with, that I will have to give out this new number. Not to mention all the business cards I will have to have reprinted, and I just had new ones printed because the area code changed on my pager.

I am at my wit's end. I hate AT&T.

The only silver lining is that my obscene phone caller will no longer be able to reach me. Not much of a blessing, but every little bit helps.

I can only suggest that you keep going up the corporate ladder - they do have "problem" solving people who can get things righted for you. Stop dealing with the mouth-breathers.

HLL - I'm so sorry to hear your number is cooked. Maybe there is still hope they'll figure it out? I don't understand how a number gets fried, anyway. Maybe we should all get cans with strings tied into them? Worked when we were kids.
