Sounds like there could be some jolly old ho-ho-ho-ing going on in Santa's workshop this year. ;-)

I just don't think I can deal with this anymore.. It's almost four years old now, and I think it's had the meat. This one on the link is less money than the one I have that's falling apart.. An old HP Pavilion..with no guts..
To: grannie9
My dad just got that system, with the 19" flat screen monitor. Its FAST!!! Can't beat the price, too.Just get lots of video RAM for all your porno, Garn ;-)
To: habs4ever
I have that monitor at home, but I hate to spend the extra money for it here.. I got the Trinitron 19", and it's wonderful, especially where I do a lot of photo work.. I'll check and see how much it is extra.. Right now I can't even download my photos, it takes soooo long for just 24 or so... Sometimes I take 100 at a time.. This one will never do..as it would take me half the day the way it's working..
Glad to hear he likes it..and the price isn't bad at all.. Of course I haven't broached Al about it yet..
To: grannie9
The way to Al's chequebook is through his stomach...or your undies ;-)You figure it out!!! lol

I still like buying locally from a builder that has been around for several years - if things go badly, you can load that bad boy into the car and plunk it down on their service desk.
Windows2000Pro is nice because you can use it on all your machines with paying Microsoft, and having one built locally can keep all the AOL, Compuserve, and whatever other "come-ons" the major builders are currently loading into the machine. Order as much memory as the mainboard will hold, and Habs' porn point is valid - load the video card with memory also. A 300watt power supply is good and be sure that it has plenty of cooling fans for all this wattage that will be going on.
Check tomorrow's paper which should have all the specials, deals and promos.
Ask your friends there if they have any recommendations. Ask me all you want - I love computer stuff, just leave the digital camera questions for Val or AC. ;-)
Good luck with it.
