This Labor Day let us remember those who worked to help build this great country of ours.
Have spent a quiet day packing, washing clothes, ironing, and organizing.
The vacation awaits.....leaving in a few days.
Was looking at our websites for the B&B's in Canada that we're staying, and noticed (for the first time) that a small caption on one of them directs us to the American flag draped (actually hanging on a small flagpole).. on the verandah.
The caption read....'we honor those who died, and drape the American colors on our home'....or something like that.
I thought that a nice touch, indeed!
Well, ME, you just reminded me of that Frenchie Georgie has warmed up to! Something verrrrry amiss there!

.The Stars & Stripes was draped on our building to honor those who died....
To: Tax Tea!
You have a point. What did they do with that levy money we raised? We need a full accounting now, before things go any further. I just don't trust that Washington, he never smiles. The fighting should stop until we get some answers! I smell kickbacks.

I better go read the thread...
I'm innocent, I tell ya!
Actually, much to our family chagrin, one of our ancestors fought with the ...........................(yankees!)
I told you (early AM thread) that I liked those ....chef thingies :)
I've got to run. The soldiers that are quartered here need to check their mail. And I think they just killed our pig.

Of course I'm speaking to you. BTW, how is your son at following recipes and directions? I've got a couple of inexpensive and lowfat recipes, but if he mis-handles them, they can make him sick. It's the whole mayo thing...

Well, all is not lost yet - did this ancestor fight with the yankees, or did he fight for the yankees? Because if he fought with them, then he was on our side - if he fought for them...well...
Well, to answer your question.....he is just getting the hang of cooking (our of desperation, I might add)
Before all this happened, he prolly didn't know the inside of an oven, as long as there were all those tasty restaurants around.
And he was on familiar terms with the microwave to reheat all those meals from take-out :)
But now, he's become a bit of a snob cook......says he will only make things from scratch....and started experimenting with whole wheat pasta, and stuff.
I would love your recipes!
He fought FOR them.
We don't mention him too much at family gatherings :^
It's not the recipe, it's not keeping stuff with mayo in it within the safe range and out of the 40-140 degree danger zone.

He's a single, 24 yr odl.....need I say more.
He knows to keep stuff like that cold.......but can be a bit forgetful. :^
