Don't cook with the basil, unless you put it in the sauce...its great after it comes out of the oven, when you can sprinkle shreeded basil on the gooey cheese.it gives the 'za a nice kick :-)
I have freepmail.

Looks like we're about to get a thunderstorm and hubby's on his way home so I'm off to the kitchen.
Have a good evening and I'll catch all my DD paisans tomorrow.
Smooches.

Homemade pizza sounds yummy...let us know how it turns out...I also recently bought a bread making machine, just have not gotten around to using it yet...I guess those bread making machines can make some great pizza dough...I need to get busy with that machine...

I just found your post 797
your ode to a basset hound tushy is terrific
To: palo verde
That Lulu is so funny...I guess she always needs her Krafts Singles first, before she can concentrate on any other food...she must have her favorite food at the beginning of the meal....
To: palo verde
Glad you enjoyed the ode to basset hound tushies...those are such big soft wonderful tushies, that everyone should have the experience of having one wrapped around them...
To: andysandmikesmom
I always tried to get my mom to serve dessert first when I was lil girl
I never succeeded
I coulda learned a few tricks from Lulu
To: andysandmikesmom

Darksheare, don't read this

Now, I am trying to get a mental picture of Palos adventure in the car with all the purses, necessary for her outing..and poor Bill trying to find his glasses case...
I can almost imagine the look on his face, as he asked you if all those purses were necessary....
Thats like when BigDom and I venture up to Seattle for a three day weekend....he has medium sized bag....I have a big suitcase, a couple purses, a couple small bags....he just looks at me, and volunteers, that we are not leaving home for a month....of course, his remarks go in one of my ears and right out the other....I pay no attention....just keep handing him stuff to haul out to the car...
I imagine the look at BigDoms face, is equivalent to the look on Bills face when faced with their respective wives toting too much stuff around...
To: andysandmikesmom
sometimes the dessert was dud
I always hoped for chocolate cake
supper would be over and I'd say is there dessert
she said yes
I said what
she said fig newtons
To: andysandmikesmom
rofl rofl
your story bout goin' to Seattle with BigDom
I identify with ''of course his remarks go in one of my ears and right out the other....I pay no attention....''
To: andysandmikesmom
when we got into car to go to pool
naturally I had my new white purse that I bought yesterday
I sat there tryin' to get price tag off
''you bought another pocketbook'' he said
I didn't tell him I bought 4
To: palo verde
And he does not need to know that you bought 4 new purses...
I dont tell BigDom half the stuff I buy....of course, when the doorbell rings, its usually UPS or the postal mail route carrier, bringing me a package....he just rolls his eyes, as he sees I am on a shopping binge...
Now I can tell him that Christmas is only 5 months away, and I am shopping early...Yea right...he pretends to buy into that one...
I think your package will be getting sent out on Saturday...I have to go to the post office anyway, to pick up a package that apparently one of the substitute mail carriers, was too lazy to bring to my door, the bum...he just left a pick up notice in my mail box...HOW RUDE....
I hate to go to the post office, and have to get my number like in the bakery....I hate waiting...oh well, I have two dollies sitting in the post office, and they are not happy there, they want to come home with me, so I have to go and retreive them...
To: palo verde
My mom seldom made a special dessert, for after dinner...I think thats because she always had a pie or cake or cookies that she had made, on hand....
I must admit, my mom was a great baker, and made the best pies ever...her pie crust was among the best pie crusts I have ever had...I am a complete dud at making pie crusts...
When I do make a pie, I just buy the frozen pie shells, or the package pie crust mix....tho, I never make pies, except sweet potato pies at the holiday season...otherwise, I just buy bakery pies....
But my mom made the best Chocolate cream pie, and Coconut cream pie, and Lemon meringue pies I have have ever had....she had quite the reputation as being one of the best pie bakers around, at least in our church, neighborhood, and at the local schools...but I never inherited that trait from her...my pies are worthy of not much...
Except I can make a decent sweet potato pie...and since you can hardly buy sweet potato pies here, I always have to make them when we have the taste for one...
To: andysandmikesmom
hi sweetie
I think back in nyc we would call the post office and ask if they would be kind enuf to re-deliver them
they always said yes
your dollies wont like waiting at po
they want to be home with you
Love, Palo
To: palo verde
Well, I have to go over there anyway, so I might as well get your package sent off, so you should have it sometime next week...your teddies tell me that they dont belong here, they need to get to Arizona, quick....
To: andysandmikesmom
in summers in the adirondacks
my mom made apple pie for my dad
and she used to make lemon meringue pie too
I thought it was most most delicious thing ever
she baked chocolate cakes too
back in the city I guess she was always busy
every supper I would dream dessert would be chocolate cake or chocolate brownies or chocolate pudding
but either it was that entenmann's pecan nut roll (that my friend helen is so nuts about)
or it was cookies
''help yourself to two cookies'' she would say
I considered malomars the best of the cookies
fig newtons were at the bottom
oh I just remembered about fruit cocktail
half the time dessert turned out to be canned fruit cocktail
I always tried to explain to her that fruit cocktail is not a dessert
''dessert means cake'' I would explain
To: andysandmikesmom
thank you andysmom
I can't wait for my new teddies to arrive
you are sweetheart
smoooch
To: palo verde
Ah, but do you know how fruit cocktail is really good?...I love to make homemade cream puff shells, they are easy and a snap to make....make the cream puff shells, let them cool, and scoop out the soft insides(they usually suggest that you throw away the soft insides, but I eat them as I am scooping the other shells)
Then drain a can of fruit cocktail....get a tub of KoolWhip, and put about two cups or so in a bowl...mix the drained fruit cocktail into the koolWhip, till its all evenly distributed...then fill the cooled cream puff shells with the Koolwhip-fruitcocktail mix, and put the lids back on the shells....
They are quite yummy, and a nice tasty way to have fruit cocktail....
But my all time favorite dessert has got to be cheesecake...I used to make my own, and it was really delicious, but then I found the cheesecake that Costco puts out, and for what they charge for a delicious giant cheesecake, I could not make it for that price....so when we want cheesecake, we just go to Costco...
