I have been watching the History Channel this afternoon...two very interesting program...
The first program was a two hour show about the ghosts and spirits and apparitions of the battlefield at Gettysburgh...it was very interesting...I told BigDom about it, and he is going to watch it when it comes on again, later tonite...he will be interested in it, because when we camped in a tent outside of Gettysburgh, in 1976, BigDom woke up in the middle of the night, hollering, because he heard cannons and guns firing, and swore there was a battle going on....My dad, reassured him, that many people have heard the very same thing, and many people believe that many of the spirits of the dead soldiers, are still fighting the battle...
Now I am watching the second show, which is about Prostitution and sex subjects, during the Civil War...its also very interesting...seems that New Orleans was the 'sin' city of that time...if the men got onto the dance floor, most of the lady dance partners, were practically naked to begin with, and altho they started out dancing, usually the dance rapidly turned into just sex...and if dance halls and brothels, were overcrowded, the proprietors, just tossed blankets and rugs right out into the streets, and people had sex right there....
Also they show old birth control devices of the time...odd types of mens condoms, and a crude syrynge for ladies to use to clean themselves up right after sex to prevent pregnancy...usually they filled the syrynge with whiskey or beer to kill the sperm...all very interesting...
And apparently when the soldiers wrote home to their families, wives, parents and such, they just talk about family matters and nice things...but when they wrote letters to their male friends, they bragged on and on about the wonderful brothels, and how easy it was to get a woman...described by one young man as $2 a jump, $5 for the whole night....
And pornography also was flourishing during the civil war...even in the military camps, there were flyers and newspapers, advertising all sorts of pics, and such for the mens viewing pleasure...
All very interesting...

my brother called back again today
I thanked him for all his help
then we started to chit chat
since I had reached him thursday on his cellphone while he was driving to go kayaking
when he arrived he confided all my problems to his kayaking cronies
their analysis is I am totally irresponsible person who prolly never paid her real estate taxes and squandered all my money on frivolous items
''I bet her taxes in tucson are less than a thousand'' one of them told my brother
I appreciate my brother's quick action in helping me
but his friends' analysis of me (and his own!) leaves something to be desired

hi andysmom
it is interestng your report bout the civil war
I never knew any of that stuff
it does seem war always causes big changes
it's as if new era always begins after a war
Love, Palo
To: palo verde
Ah, Palo, dont let them bother you...its so easy for folks to gossip and yak when they have no idea what someone elses circumstances are...And how would they know what your taxes are? Just empty wind talking a bit...some folks think we should never have any frivolous items....Bah...
And like you said, you did not want to tell your brother about Lulus Kraft singles because he does not have pets, and does not understand...that reminds me of a landlord I used to have many years ago...
WE lived way out in the country, and he got this donkey for h is grandkids to play with...but he would not buy her any food....just too cheap...thought she would be just ok eating grass...I used to buy her apples, and carrots, and things, to supplement that grass...good grief, how cheap could anyone be?...Dont know whatever happened to that donkey after we moved....sure hope someone knocked some sense into the tightwad, that if you have an animal, you have to feed it...
To: andysandmikesmom
hi andysmom
what a sensible post
yes I love my frivolous items
I dont know why
it's amazing how a little treat makes me so happy
I think it's nice to have something which makes my eyes light up

Well, first it was a program about ghost of Gettysburgh, then the next program was about sex and prostitution in the Civil War, and now its ghosts of Tombstone, Arizona...Palo, are you near Tombstone?...
I have to see what ghosts are in Tombstone, Arizona...seems there are lots and lots of sightings in Tombstone...seems because there so many wild characters out there in the 1870s and 1880s during the wild west days....seems the lure of silver pulled about 10,000 people there in its heyday...
Tombstone had more brothels and saloons than any other place in the southwest, and the gunplay was considered a normal part of life...the undertaker was always busy...
All the cowboys and miners from all the neighboring area, such as Abilene, knew each other, as Tombstone was a meeting area, were one could mine for silver, jump a gal, and get drunk...
Sounds like it was quite the town...

I dont know anything bout prostitution
once I read a channeled book by King David of all people
I took it out of library
but you know with channeled books, lots depends on person who channels and the source they are channeling
King David claimed
that prostitution came in when women insisted on monogamy
I wonder if that is true?
Love, Palo
To: andysandmikesmom
I read book bout Tombstone
sposedly it was autobiography of Wyatt Earp's wife
she arrived there as part of theatrical company
seems Tombstone had their high society cultural people and cultural activities too
wonder if they had opera house
yes it seems like it was thriving center back then
(she met and married Wyatt in Tombstone)
To: palo verde
I think prostitution has been around forever, tho the reasons for it are probably many....
And nothing has really changed with the military since the civil war...any military base, even today, has a large number of prostitutes, and seedy motels, near every military base that there is....
There are little towns around near, a little north, up by Ft. Lewis, and when we pass them on the freeway, I know that most soldiers go to those towns for one thing and one thing only....prostitution...
BigDom and I have driven through some of these little towns, and the number of bars, strip joints, porno places, bars, and pawn shops, are there, mainly because they are near a large military base....that must seems to be the way of it...
Young unmarried men on the loose, with military pay in their pockets, out on the night, looking for fun, flock to these towns...of course, lots of young married men, older unmarried and married men alike also make an appearance I suppose...
But the large numbers of young unmarried men, away from home, on the loose, money jingling in their pockets, are the actually providing an economic support for prostitutes, bars, strip joints, pawn shops, etc. etc. etc...
Decide for yourself, whether that is good or bad...

I'm of the belief that sex is love
and love is good
I'm not an enthusiast of war tho
I think war should only happen when absolutely necesary, and mission be accomplished as quickly as possible
To: andysandmikesmom
if that was King David who channeled in that book
he seems to have lost ground since his incarnation as David
didnt Davd write Psalms
''Be still and know that I am God''
the David in this book seemed fearful, and not greatly enlightened
it was not an inspired or inspiring book
but had some information in it
Love, Palo
To: palo verde
Well, even in peacetimes, we still have our military bases, so the prostitution and such will exist, whether in peace times or war times...
Just reported that all those miners that were trapped, have been contacted, and so far all 9 men are alive....now they have to get the drill out of the hole, and then lower a basket into the hole, and take the men out, one by one...sure hope they get them all out successfully...
To: andysandmikesmom
you know, it just hit me what was wrong with that book
David seemed preoccupied with his experience in the world in being a king
he was very eager to remedy that experience
he wanted to be asked questions in not an overly respectful way
and to be challenged
cause he said as King no one challenged him
but his experience of being close to God did not seem to figure in at all
Love, Palo
To: andysandmikesmom
I pray for safe rescue for all of them
To: palo verde
I really dont know much about King David, other than his mourned so when his child was born so ill....but then when the baby died, he put away his mourning, or so the Bible says....that always seemed so hard to me....
I cried all the time and mourned so, when Michael was so ill, but right when he died, and for a while after that, tho I was so sad, and grief stricken, I could not cry...no matter how hard I tried, I absolutely could not shed one tear...I had cried so much when he was alive and sick, I figured I was all cried out....
It was not until weeks later, that I could cry over him again...I think I was just in actual shock, when he died, and that shock just prevented me from crying, allowing me to make funeral arrangements, and get through all that I had to....
But I often have wondered, how King David coped with the loss of his baby, in later times....the Bible never says...
To: andysandmikesmom
hi andysmom
I don't know anything about King David
my experience of the Bible is limited
I read the beginning part
and then only the parts which brought me peace when I was upset in later times
as a kid in Sunday school I liked the story bout Queen Esther
cause she was so beautiful
and won the beauty contest
I found the movie ''10 Commandments'' very interesting when I saw it on tv when we moved to tucson
Love, Palo

That poor basset looks like he has a boozer's eyes...red and rhummy ;-)Ta ta! You be good!!
To: palo verde
I try to read a little bit of the Bible each day....sometimes it enlightens me, other times, I dont understand, at all, what I am reading...
I like the different religious films that one can see on TV, or can get on VCR tapes...we have many of them, and sometimes we watch them...
Somehow, I get a lot out of those films...
To: andysandmikesmom

his young son (a teenager) became very ill
and just went to Heaven
I hope my cousin turns to God and gets comforting
my cousin is a surgeon, I do not know his spiritual beliefs
