My husband loves to do art work...and hes very talented at it also...both of our boys are really good artists as well...hubby says, once he is retired, he is taking painting up again, since he will have the time for it...

My hubby has kept all his art work from when he was growing up...its really great...

Our older boy, Mike, loved to do his art work, he loved to spent an evening sketching....when he was so sick with leukemia, and in the hospital so much, it was his artwork, which he pursued all the more, as it was so hard to be in the hospital for weeks at a time...He used to sketch the different doctors that he had, only he would exaggerate certain of their faces.....the doctors loved it...he would keep the original for himself, give the particular doctor a copy we had run off, and then the docs asked for another copy to hang up in the doctors lounge at the hospital...So his artwork sure did save him from boredom, when he was in the hospital...so its nice for me, to have so very much artwork from him, that I have saved over time...its just nice to be able to look at the work he did, and know how much he enjoyed it...

The younger boy, ,Andy is just as good an artist, but he does not really enjoy doing art work, so he seldom ever draws anything...it seems a waste to have a talent, that you dont like to use, but then again, if you dont enjoy using the talent, why do it?

Now I, on the other hand cannot draw anything decent at all...I draw like a 5yr old...so obviously the boys got their artistic talents from the hubby...

hi cookie
I found your post interesting
I didn't know your hubby was artist
my hubby did not do it seriously till we moved to tucson
I didn't even know it was a dream of his
I now think when anyone has a dream whether it's writing or painting, or whatever, it's good to give it a whirl
talent is a funny thing
there was one brief period when Nicole, a girl I met in tucson, was also communicating with God
nicole was painter too
God told nicole, ''just get out of the way and the painting will paint itself
get out of the way, and the story will write itself''
that's what I think about talent, you don't know what is there
till you start to do it, and one day you get out of the way, and the story writes itself
Love, Palo

I dont know how much the rest of the country knows about this case, but I will give you here what I know...

Saturday a Sheriffs Deputy, who is think is up around the Bellevue, Washington area, heard the call over the radio, about there being a naked man, running around, shouting and scaring people...so Deputy Herzog answered the call, alone and unassisted in his patrol car....

He came upon the naked man, and did not pull his weapon, as the man was naked, and altho appearing scarey, I guess Deputy Herzog, did not consider it, at that time, appropriate to pull his weapon out...he tried to either subdue the naked man, or take him into custody, when a scuffle broke out, and the naked man was able to grab the Deputys weapon...he shot him once, the deputy went down to the ground, and then the naked man, emptied the gun into the deputy...he executed him, as he lay helpless on the ground...

Many civilians tried to help the wounded officer, but I believe at that point he was already dead....the naked man ran off, and went home, or to the home of relatives...shortly thereafter, I believe he turned himself in...

Deputy Herzog was a 20yr vet of the Green Berets, an 8yr on the job Deputy...he has a wife, that he met and married while stationed in Korea, and he leaves her behind, along with two daughters, aged 15 and 18...also Deputy Herzogs parents are still alive, and at the Memorial service today, the 18yr old daughter and father of Deputy Herzog stood together, and gave their own testimonials, about Deputy Herzog...

The church was packed with mourners, and many from the military, the Sheriffs office, the family, and of course many from the community...

It was really a stirring memorial service...testimonials, a 21 bell salute, bagpipers playing Amazing Grace, folding of the flag on the casket, friends and family consoling one another...

Now the other part begins...the perp was in court, and his family and friends were in the gallery, and it almost appeared to me at least, like a big old circus...they are waving their arms, shouting support, saying they loved the perp, how it would be all right, how they would get him a good lawyer...

This perp is a mess...he a man in his 50s, with a drug problem, and a police file which is 19pages long....he is scum, to say the very least...he just go out of jail not to long ago, for almost the same sort of event, involving other officers...a while back, he was also walking around naked, and shouting and threatening, and it took a whole group of police to subdue him then...hes a big strong man, on drugs, out of control and as strong as can be...

Apparently he did jail time for that last offense, and had been released, not too long ago...When other officers heard the call go out, about a naked man, they just knew it was this same guy again, and had they known that it was going to be Herzog, going on his own, against this naked guy, they would have warned him not to attempt any action until he had some backup help...

But its too late for that now...Deputy Herzog gave his life, and now the perp needs to stand trial and be found guilty, and executed...there is no doubt that this naked man did what is claimed, there are way too many witnesses who saw it, for him to claim he is innocent....this is no case of mistaken identity...the man sitting in jail accused of this crime, is indeed the man who did the killing...

So now, time, the trial, the courts, the jury...all will have to exact justice for Deputy Herzog...

Yes, Palo, my husband has always loved art work...he likes to sketch in either pencil or ink, and then he likes to work in oils.....he does not care for water colors...

So he says, he wants to take up painting again...he did paint a few picture for the house, that we hung up...one is Christmas picture, with lots of different Santas, another is like a village scene from Sicily, and another is a prehistoric sealife scene, that he copies from a post card from the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago...

So he does good work, just does not have much time for it right now....but come retirement, he will drag his easel, and pens and pencils, and paints out, and begin...he says it may be the start of a whole new career...and who knows....stanger things have happened..

yes when your hubby has time
he will have a ball exploring his talent
it does take energy

Bill spent huge energy moving furniture
washing wall
painting that huge wall
next day he did tiny little oil painting
he said it took more work than whole wall
I guess cause you give it full concentration and use whole of your mind

Evening friends - what a sad, sick story from WA.
Yet another PosterChild for birth control. Good grief.
Would it be harsh to suggest just shooting naked men screaming
down the neighborhood?

I'm still enjoying Marion, Mr.Marion, Oscar, in my spare monents - fascinating people. As well as poor Johnny.

Give Lulu another single and Happy a skritch and Bill some
Major Props for me.

Bably Billy is still missing and I'm trying to keep his thread bumped up near or at the top. Please pray for Billy.

I have been following the story of little Billy, and sure hope that soon he will be back with his mama...I dont know a lot about the case tho

Do they believe that the father will take care of the baby, or are they fearful that he will neglect or harm him? Where exactly did this happen? I have been reading North Carolina, if so, where in North Carolina?...Is this a custody dispute? Unfortunately, when its a parental abduction, the police are not always as willing to getting involved

Thanks in advance for answers...

You know, I think the main reason the deputy did not pull his gun, was because this guy was naked, and he figured he could handle him, and that he was not concealing a weapon...

And you just know, that had the deputy pulled his gun and shot, the family of the naked man, would have sued the Sheiffs office for shooting a defenseless naked man...

Its just all turned around topsy turvy...

Billy's mother and grandmother don't know what to think. They believe hubby's mind snapped. The unknown is what is killing them.

There has been no contact, no demands, no threats or than hubby saying there would be blood if he was found. Interest is growing and the Sheriff there is doing what he can, and not discounting the story, but with each passing day I become more and more fearful for Billy's well being.

Check your freemail please.

It seems, that today, so many prayers are needed for so many people who are hurting right now....

Everyday, I am just thrown by how cruel people are towards each other...its astounding that so much hate and evil abounds...

The only thing I can add to your description of the event is....The deputy tried to take the perp down with pepper spray. Didn't bother him a bit, came right through the spray stream and took out the deputy....Was only a few weeks back, an off duty white deputy killed a black man in his, the deputys, own neighborhood when neighbors ask him to check a suspicious car parked in that neighborhood. The black pulled a gun and the deputy shot him. He later died..The blacks were still blocking traffic and protesting about that episode just a few days ago...
It is only white men who can do wrong in this country now....Enjoy....
....Westy....

You are right, I forgot about that pepper spray....that deputy thought the pepper spray would temporarily disable the naked man, but he was wrong...apparently spraying pepper spray on this man, was like spraying water...it did nothing to him..

And I do remember about the black man who got shot by the other deputy, and the black man later died...but goodness, that black man had a gun, and odds are if the deputy had not shot him, the black guy would have shot the deputy...

In Herzogs case, Herzog was white, and the naked man was black...so we shall see how this plays out...
