Yep.. and Oct is considered still part of their summer.. They had a cool, nice winter there this year. Actually it was a little cool and iffy when my daughter Dyan came in Feb.. April was perfect..for visitors.. She says she's coming in April next year.. lol

Where is that Westy...he is missed..its warm here today, 78 degrees right now...maybe he decided to leave his computer cool its heels for a while, and went out and had some fun in the sun...
I thought today was the first day of summer, but its really the last day of spring...so tomorrow is the first day of summer...

I bet it was nice for him growing up with his grandma
I spent a week living with my grandma when I was 4 years old and my mom was giving birth to my brother in hospital
I found it relaxing living with my grandma
my grandmother seemed to ignore me more
and we'd play cards together all afternoon
it was a dreamier environment

I guess he liked being raised by his grandparents ok...his dad, once he got out of the hospital, used to come and visit him all the time, as much as he could...for a while, his dad even lived at the house with his parents, and my husband...
And there was a big extended family of aunts and uncles, none of whom had any kids...so my husband got lots of attention from the aunts and uncles also...
So for him, it worked out ok...except that he never knew his mother....
His mom just left, and never came back...its odd, because women usually take their children, even when they leave their husbands...and she had both her parents still alive, so you would have thought, that if she could not take care of my husband, she would have left him with her parents..
But she did not...she just left everything behind, and left...
I am sure there is a story behind this, but my husband does not know what it is...
But I am glad that my husband had a large extended family on his fathers side, that was glad to have him, and raised him lovingly...

October is usually when our rainy season comes back...September is usually beautiful, and not too much rain, but by Halloween, we are back to cold, grey and rainy...
When we go down to visit my relatives in northern California, we like to go in October, because by then it has cooled down some...when we used to visit there in the summer, it was so hot and unbearable...but we had to go in the summer, when our son was out of school for the summer...
Now that its just me and the hubby we can go whenever we like...and October is just beautiful in northern California...the weather is mild, and driving through wine country, with all the vineyards, turning colors, is quite beautiful...

when my mom was giving birth to my brother in hospital
my dad used to come to my grandma's (his mother) to join us for supper every night
my grandmother doted on him (she had 3 daughters, he was her only son)
but thing was, with his wife giving birth in hospital
and his daughter at his mom's house
he wanted freedom of not having to be home for supper, he wanted to hang out with his friends
so he'd always arrive a little late, I'd open the door for him
and first words out of his mouth were ''is she mad''
instead of acting like a father, he always seemed like a son who could get into trouble
I found it all very interesting

Ah, Mlle Palo, comme ca va? Je suis fatigue, mon cher ;-)
To: andysandmikesmom
you are smart to go in October
even tho it is still summer here
October is much milder than june july august and september
and for you, who live in damp cool cloudy climate
I bet the warmth and sunshine is heaven

My husbands grandmother actually doted on him also...as he got older and was out with his friends, as an older teen, if he came late, she never hollered at him....she would tend his supper at the stove, keeping it warm, and making sure it did not burn or dry out...he could walk in anytime, and was his grandmother, making sure that all was right with him...
Altho she spoiled him in some ways, in other ways they were strict...he wanted to play football, but that meant having to practice after school...and his grandparents made him work in a store after school...to he could learn to earn his own money...but it all worked out in the end...
We had not been married for long, when one night, he did not come home for dinner, when dinner hour was approaching...I went on ahead and ate...hours later, he still was not home...finally he came home, having spent time with his friends, and never even called me...
Well, I was so mad, when he did not come home, that I took his supper, and threw it away in the garbage can...when he finally came home, he wanted to know where his dinner was...I showed him the garbage can
All he could say was, "Well, my grandmother always tended my supper, until I got home, whenever that was".....I just rudely informed him, I was not his grandmother, nor would I 'tend' his meal, while he was out having a good time...
So I had to undo, that which his grandmother had done...she spoiled him...
I am having fun, imagining a little Palo, opening the door to her dad, who was trying sneak in after a little fun with his friends...
Men will be men...looking for a good time, without trying to ruffle the feathers of their womenfolk...trying to get away with something...
