If you can't sit down in a CHURCH without feeling safe, then you need to RUN to the bedroom, and pack up your stuff and don't stop driving until you see your brother's house.

I DO know this. There is a black neighborhood about 4 miles from here, that some consider a little rough. I WOULD walk right through it at midnight on Saturday night, unarmed. Most of the people around here have a little sense.

Y'all must live in some parallel universe where you BELIEVE that shit y'all have been spoon fed about the races living in hatred of each other down here. City life must suck real bad.

That is in the North. I don't know of any place in any black neighborhood anywhere in the South that I would be afraid to go in to at any time.

And I mean that in a good way .. Whenever I went down south to visit Mike's family .. I was always amazed at how nice and friendly everyone was .. black and white ..

You don't find that a lot up here .. folks up here seem to always have their guard up

Apparently, I'm not going to do that. LOL. I just checked with several others and miracle of miracles things are going great without me. FOFLOL. Imagine that. So, I'm thinking of passing on the rest of the afternoon. It's taking so long to pull myself together today and I still look positively horrible. grrrrr.

There is an area in Jacksonville that I got turned around in once that I thought I would never get out of and I would go WAY out of my way to ever avoid finding myself back there again. Downright freaky. But overall I agree with you. There is a big difference in race relations in the north and in the south and contrary to the stereotype, I believe the resolution in the south has been a smoother transiton and a more acceptable end. I have seen much more real racial hostility in the north and west.

That is EXACTLY what we have been telling you for months.

Even in the CITIES here, people are friendly. I was working in the RJR HQ building in downtown Winston-Salem, and everybody I passed on the sidewalk said 'Howdy.'

NOW, if we can just blow up the South bound lanes on I-77 and I-95, then we could CONTINUE being friendly.

This event is about and for women the proceeds benefit the Arts Council. Its jam packed with everything from banking, to salons, spas, healthcare, shopping, chefs, decorating, cars, a fashion show. In fact, the featured guest today is the fashion consultant guy from E TV, Leon Hall.

Now you know why I'm not all that wild about going since I'm so mangy looking with this crud.... There's a building full of critics down there and one of them we even imported to criticize. LOL.

Waco has its BAD neighborhoods. I'll classify them by high crime rather than race, but they are not safe at night - especially near the projects. Huge groups of people dealing drugs openly in the parking lots, knifings every weekend, prostitution and assaults of every nature. These locations aren't in the suburbs, so they don't get cleaned up. Waco is still the murder capitol of Texas. You have to look up the FBI stats online to find that one out, though, because the local paper sure doesn't ever get around to reporting just how bad crime in the city really is.

My experience in the south is that if anything people are over compensating by nicer to each other...
