I had always wondered if the average Catholic had any idea that some people were taught that. Mo says not.

The point I was making is that the Catholic church has always managed to weather scandal and in many cases it has brought about a purging which was for the better.

I like the trains too. I have some neat pictures of the railyard/museum at Eureka Springs. They have a great display. Here is one of their operational steam engines. I don't have the majority of those scanned into my computer yet either.'

As a matter of fact, it seemed like your comment implied some sort of underlying racism, which I am NOT comfortable with, either.

I don't think there is any significant racism left in any of the Texas Churches. Waco is not a town with a large influx of new people, and when you live in the same town your family has always been in, you tend to go to the same church your grandparents went to. Forty years ago the Churches were segregated, and today, most people are still going to grannie's church, so they are still de facto segregated and I doubt it will end.

I think I find being uncomfortable in a place that is not multi racial is as perverse as being uncomfortable in one that is integrated

I do now. I had McAfee at that time and it was apparently useless. I since installed Norton's which did a great job of cleaning up the mess on my computer. I thought it was toast at that point. I also have Zone Alarm, but I am a techno-moron so I really don't know how to effectively configure and use it without locking myself out of places I want to be.

I have found that the important thing is not the brand, but to update it every day. It doesn't do much good to be protected against last weeks viruses. I also like to have the firewall and anti virus software from the same company so I know they are working correctly together

I've just always been a part of mixed congregations with a wide variety of ages and where anyone of any race was welcomed and felt comfortable. I could invite friends from school or work to go to church with me without considering their race or that they wouldn't "fit in."

And so, because you ASSUME they would be unwelcome if you brought them, you think it is so??

I'd say that is a reflection of YOUR ideas, rather than the ideas of the Church you were in.

In the South, MANY people attend the SAME church from cradle to grave. It has NOTHING to do with racism. Just like there have been MANY times that I have been the ONLY white boy in a gym full of blacks, it wouldn't bother me ONE BIT to sit down in a church full of Southern blacks. NOT ONE BIT. Of ANY denomination. Including the Evangelical Holiness people. I am SURE they would be among the BEST people you would EVER meet.

I have sat down to eat with black people in all black neighborhoods, and have had black people work for me. I have ALSO worked for black people. And I have also worked beside of them in the fields too.

I think you brought your Washington State impressions of the South with you, when you moved.

If I see ANY racism ANYWHERE, you can bet your sweet ass that I WILL confront it, no matter which way it is directed. (unless it is at Muslims, who have definitely asked for it)

Your Church is in no danger. They will just bleed the Vatican for all the money they can (Look for MILLIONS of idiots to suddenly REMEMBER having been molested 30 years ago).

I don't disagree with much that you have stated .. I also know many black folks that are good, kind, caring and loving people

But if you think for one minute that there is not discrimination on either side then you are nuts ..

There are parts of Philly I would not dare go in .. not because they are black .. but because I am white .. and white folks are not welcomed ..
