I am glad you enjoyed the story about dad...he was a wonderful man, who made my life growing up to be a fun and varied and interesting life...he was so beloved by everyone, especially all children...all my friends called him 'Pa' and he loved that...sometimes our house would be bulging with so many kids who loved to congregate at our house, and be with 'Ma and Pa Frazier'...I dont think half the time, my friends cared if I was at home or not...they came over anyway, often to get some gentle advice from 'Ma and Pa'...seems like many of my friends, had parents who were too busy, some had parents who were drunks, some had parents who just could not bother being parents...my mom and dad, God rest both of their souls, took time with all children...sometimes they were hard on my friends, and exacted strict discipline on them when they were at our house, but perhaps that is exactly what many of them needed...

Dads use of metal signs was not limited to outhouses...when my first girlfriend got married, as I was getting ready to go to the bridal shower, dad marched out with an oddly wrapped present, and told me to give it to the bride to be...

I could tell by the shape and feel of the gift, it was a plunger, and being this young lady, who thought her old man was sometimes off the deep end, I did not want to take the present for fear of being embarrassed...but dad insisted I take it, so I did...

Well, let me tell you, his plunger was a hit...it was not a cheapie plunger, but the more expensive complete plunger...and on the handle was a special metal sign, with the names of the bride and groom to be, inscribed on it...now how many folks do you know, who have their own very special personalized plunger...well, all my friends got one, and so did I when I got married...and most of my friends, as well as myself, still have those plungers...

And then the babies came along...and true to form, at going to the first baby shower, dad marched out with his wrapped present...but this present was in a box, I could not tell what it was, and dad would not tell me what it was...just told me to take it along with my gift, which I did....

Well, dads present was a potty chair, with a special metal tag on the bottom , and inscribed, was 'Baby so and so(Usually the married couples last name)...his potty chair, like his plunger, was the hit of the showers...

Dad always felt that his gifts were incredibly useful, and his special touch was the inscribed metal tag, put on each gift...I can see how and why folks just loved him...he was one of a kind..

hey! whatever do you mean by that? what kinda texan are you, anyway? ;)

one of the speakers at the 'bill of rights' rally on sunday was the author of a book titled "the state of texas is a liar." he is a great proponent of the texas constitution (says we all should read the great document) and writes in his book all the ways the state government has VIOLATED the constitution and enumerates many of their lies. he actually has 40-50 more chapters to add to it (full of that many more lies) since he finished the book. he was an excellent and motivating speaker. it was a good rally, but the crowd of 40-50 was quite disappointing. it is alarming to me that there are so few texans who give a damn about the bill of rights!! (/rant)

there was a gun show going on at the same time. is that where all the patriots were?

you know, of course, how blessed and lucky you are to have had a father like that. not to be dramatic, but take it from one who knows another kind of father...

Indeed, I figured out long ago, that my dad was a one of a kind dad, the kind most kids would love to have...

Tho dad did have one big fault, which however, he recognized and corrected...among all my happy memories are the bad memories, of when dad would drink too much, and then he became very violent...he was so different from when he was sober...when I was a small girl, I remember very often, how mean and violent he could get...but by the time I was a young teen-ager, he saw how bad he affected the family when he drank, and he stopped

So to his credit, he placed the welfare of his family above his craving for alcohol(His family has a rampant line of alcoholics, its like he was born into it...so it was hard to overcome, but overcome it he did)....

In spite of those bad times, he is still the kind of father I would wish for all children to have had...my own boys absolutely adored him.....called him 'Pop-Pop...

He died going onto 13 yrs ago now, and I still miss him so...but I was privileged to take care of him, in his own home, during the last few months of his life, and it was a pleasure to do so, because after all, he cared for me during all the hard times I gave him while I was growing up...

I'm back home
it was a DUI case in criminal court
it was the third DUI case 'gainst the guy, they were gonna throw the book at him
his lawyer said he wasn't driving when cops came over, he was parked at curb and throwing up on street
lots of jurors had to be excused cause they had DUI cases and when judge asked them if they thought they were treated fairly by criminal justice system they said no
I told judge I'd side with the guy no matter what, I was excused too
I was there all day and spent all my money at the snack machine
I don't have to go back for another year
Love, Palo

they had metal detector (like at airport) to enter court house
first my purse went thru a trolley
then I walked thru
since my clothes were all in bathtub, I couldn't find the outfit I planned
all I found was short tight black skirt
scooped neck striped cotton t shirt
red bra and black highheels
(I looked like street walker) (but everyone else looked like me)
that outfit had no pockets and clung to me, I couldn't believe they thought I was harboring a gun
turned out it was all my jewelry which set off all the alarms
I had to walk thru second time with my arms in air
(in ''hands up'' position)
Love, Palo
