I've only seen the one myself. The beaver in the creek number about four or so. The heron is a loner, and the bluebirds prefer the hill near where the old creamery used to sit. The otter, I think he's either an escape from the area 'zoo' in Sussex, New Jersey. Kinda like the mink. Where the zoo sits used to be a mink farm. Some of the mink escaped back before the mink farm closed... and they've lived there since. (Mink are nasty. I can get close to them without them knowing I am there... but it's a mistake to do so.) The local raccoons sit in the trees and chitter at each other. Makes for an interesting walk at 2 a.m. with a full moon. (the spring peepers have been out for a month or more..)

Speaking of full moon.. the prettiest thing I have ever seen, was engraved on my mind during a full moon. We had a foot and a half of snow on the ground when I had started out on a hike, and I got caught out in an ice storm. Took shelter in an old camp near where I used to live to wait out the rain. The clouds rolled off, and the moon came out... The trees looked like blown glass sculptures or cut crystal, and the ground was a sheet of crystal and white. The moon shining through the trees tossed faint rainbows on the ground here and there, and brighter white spots as well. Been haunted by that memory since. Kinda like seeing ultimate beauty, and knowing that you will never see it nor achieve it again. Makes my drawing talent look like paltry hen scratches on paper to me. Oop, there I go, off on a tangent again. Let you go for now, -Darksheare

Got an older 1970's vintage Singer sewing machine that likes to eat shirts.. and anything else that gets close enough. The short story there wasn't much of a jump for me. Just remembering my childhood fear of that evil beastie that outweighed me and ate my favorite shirt...

Published? Umm... no. I can write in short story form, but as soon as I try to streatch it out.. it loses coherence. (I have a partial first foley edition of the same story on my machine. Highly fractious. Gotta re-write the whole thing.) Basic premise of the story is, guy is forced to be king. Guy hates being king. Evil guy in southern lands comes in force into guy's kingdom. Huge war, guy and evil one both kill each other.. A long time passes. Guy is forgotten about, but evil one is still causing much mischief. The Diety takes a stroll through the vaults and finds guy laying peacefully on his bier, smiling. Brings him back to finish the job he was supposed to do long before. Much trouble, panic, and mayhem ensue before the whole thing ends. Oh, and the place is kinda like 'Alice in Wonderland' meets a Tori Amos song on an acid trip high. (Nothing is as it appears, and the cute things can hurt you mightily.) Probably not a publishable story. But, it is worth a shot. Just got to find a publisher.

I am glad that dispatcher Palo is on stand by, and Westy lives nearby...sewing could become a hazardous event, if not closely monitored...

Darksheare, you should write up a script for Twilight Zone, or some such program, about machines that go awry...

We could have Dispatcher Palo wearing her most alluring outfit, accompanied by her sidekick Lulu, and she would be the one to dispatch 'breaking news' of maniac machines, and she could put out an 'All Points Bulletin' for whatever Freeper would be nearby to lend assistance....

We have a hit in the making...

I just wish I could see that again. And I didn't think to bring a camera with me. I had caught the weatehr report, went out on a walk in the dark under the trees... and got caught out with my 'knickers down'. Stood inside an old cabin cursing accu-weather for being wrong. Kinda ironic, that. It's stuck with me since. And I can't draw it or paint it. It just doesn't translate or come out.
Kinda like walking under the stars during the summer, and smelling the night blooming Cereus (I think that's what they are called...)

"I was walking in a dream and thought I heard you calling. I awoke and thought I'd lost you."

all we'd need to complete it is to have your dad on board
he'd have our men stop for stiff drinks on their way to save damsel in distress
(and enter local penis contest)

There wasn't an airplane involved. I was on security sweep with my platoon when someone thought it would be funny to simulate an attack. I bellied down where I was at. right on top of this cactus with got awful two-three inch thorns and kinda roundish/oval in shape. I jumped back up from where I landed and cussed my brains out while bouncing on my feet. Made the 'OpFor' laugh.. and my platoon as well...
