Good afternoon all, the weather today here in Western Washington is quite lovely...sunny, warmish, and calm...I suppose we should enjoy it, as the rest of the week is supposed to be cloudy and showers...but at least today is a day we can enjoy....

The hubby got up earlier than usual, as he has to go in and have four new tires put on one of the cars(No, not the famous garbagemobile)...so he has to do that before he heads out for work...

Palo, heed Habs words about watching out for basset burglars..there are such things out there...

A few years ago, a local basset disappeared...it was New Years Eve, the basset was outside, and the family thinks that the New Years Eve fireworks scared him and he ran off...some people grabbed him and the family was heartbroken...the bassets name was Festus...anyway, the people who dognapped him traveled east from Washington state, but they only got as far as Montana, before they dropped poor old Festus off, at a local animal shelter...The shelter thinks they know why...

Festus apparently has a habit of marking his territory, quite frequently, by peeing wherever he is...and the shelter figured that Festus had been peeing in his dognappers car, and they decided it was not worthwhile to keep him...

In one way or another, the Montana shelter was able to contact the family who had owned Festus....they family was overjoyed to know that their boy had been found...so the shelter had to figure out how to get Festus home...

Well, Horizon air, volunteered to transport Festus free of charge, and the citizens of Bozeman Montana, gave more than the usual share of donations to the shelter to provide for Festus' care...

Festus' flight was delayed for a few days, because it was so cold in Montana, and too cold, they felt, in cargo, where Festus had to ride...when it warmed up a few days later, Festus was shipped back to Seattle...he landed at Sea-Tac airport, and of course since that had made the news, reporters were there, and took pictures, and wrote a nice story, which is how we all got to know about this incident...

When Festus arrived at Sea-Tac, and was allowed to rejoin his family, there was much rejoicing...there were three children in the family, and Festus was their beloved doggie boy...he was 10 years old, and since the kids were young, they had almost never known life without Festus, which is why they were all so terribly upset...

The article in the paper, ,had a wonderful picture of Festus being hugged by one of his human brothers...and of course Festus 'peed' right in the airport...twice...as one of the boys said, "Hes a peer"...Being a 'peer' may be what got him returned to his family...

When the family came to Sea-tac, they came with a brand new collar and leash for Festus, accompanied by Snausages, and Festus' favorite, smoked pigs ears(Sorry, Fred)....

A great ending to what might have been a very sad story....

So, Palo, keep that Lulu under surveillance...

lol - great Festus story - good thing he was not a respecter of property.

I hope that the cheap moochers have made a LOT more monthly committments, or Lulu may be taking a short trip to Texas. Did you say, "Major props to you!" when Bill finished the wall? ;-)

Isnt our weather today wonderful? Enjoy it, because I think beginning tomorrow, we are in for a week full of rain...altho you know, when they predict rain, it may be rain for just half an hour...or it may be nothing more than that all day drizzle or mist...But at least for today, its really beautiful outside...

No one is allowed to steal my dear Dizzy...he is laying in the hall now, spying on me...sometimes when he wants attention, but its too soon after his last round of attention, he just lays in the hall and waits for me...usually he winds up just going to sleep...

He just ate a whole bunch of catnip, and that usually makes him act like he is stoned...kind of like goes into a trance...I am going to buy him a couple of fresh catnip plants if I can find them, and put them out in his windows so he can brush up against them and munch on them whenever he wants...

We sure do spoil our kitties...

I was just watching 'Emergency Vets' on the Animal Planet Channel...they featured a very handsome basset who was having some leg problems...apparently he was born with a birth defect, and his two front legs did not grow properly, and they are extremely bowed towards the outside...

So he was going to have surgery to correct this...first they did his left leg, which was the worse leg, wait for it to heal, in 6-8 weeks, and then do the right leg

They showed him just after he had the left leg done...boy was he dopey from the anesthetic...he could barely move, poor guy...and all he did was moan...they said, that day was going to be a blurr for him...but the next day he was much better, and went home with a splint on his short chunky front paw...and then they showed him at home, recovering, and playing in the yard...he would make a great beau for Lulu...

Pee-Vee, tomorrow, watch the sports news and you'll see a great story from Montreal.Recall I mentioned back in September about the Habs captain,Saku Koivu, having stomach cancer? Well, he returns to the lineup and the Habs have a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win and be in the playoffs for the first time in 4 yrs.It would be very sweet indeed, and it will be very emotional too in Montreal tomorrow night :-)So turn on the ESPN later tomorrow for the story.
