Hi habs, good to have you back – I miss your good advice and dedication to our way of life. As for Grannie she is a woman and they go though these things from time to time. It is not the remuneration.

Your Capt'n has her settled down now and she is as good as gold. I have her well in hand for the moment but I will keep an eye on her for the next few days.

thought I had discovered levitation

I just got back, read this thread laughing all the way, and you have caused spontaneous combustion about something NOT FUNNY. But I can't stop laughing. By the way, isn't spontaneous combustion the term for other-worldly flames and sparks coming from the human body???

As for inside jokes, ask any of us and we can tell you where it came from. Reading for a week or two reveals all of our secrets, too. Of course, I'm in this place with padded white walls and no telephone - don't ask ME. The great thing is....this thread brought me to this place but everyone visits me regularly, as good friends should.

I like this thread! - I was walking thru the forest and BLAM! Here I am. Padded walls, straightjackets, and conversations with some very nice people. None of which are wearing tin-foil hats that I can see, but I have seen quite a few pirate hats.

You are correct about spontaneous human combustion, and if you've ever experienced a good jolt of 220 you would agree with me. LOL!

Remind me to never tell any of you about my neighbor Joe, and the day we jumped off the roof with an umbrella after seeing Mary Poppins at the theatre. Nope, I won't tell you how fast an umbrella can collapse, nor how fast a spindly-legged kid can smash into the ground. Wouldn't be prudent.

Habs giving advice??????????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Do not scoff dear Oneida - Habs is a black hearted villain – he gives sound advice on the reason for our enterprise and as a good Captain I listen to those who have a laser like focus on the purpose of our scam.

He suggested I should case the Vatican and mentioned a few articles on his wish list, Carrivaggios, Titians and the Cellini salt bowl the ugliest salt bowl in the world .

Habs is a man who would rob the poor box in the local church and complain about the miserliness of the parishioners. In short Oneida, he is an indispensable rogue with his heart in the right place.

I guess Mary Poppins' umbrella worked for Mary, but not for anyone else
When I started reading ''A Course in Miracles'' 10 years ago, the author convinced me there are no external properties
everything is in the mind
I had just moved to Tucson and beautiful mushrooms sprang up all over school yard after the rain
so I picked them
When I returned to our apt complex everyone told me not to eat them they will make me sick
but I thought ''pish posh everything is in the mind''
so I cooked them up for supper
when hubby asked me where I got them I said the health food store
in the middle of the night I was sick!
so next morning I threw away the rest of mushrooms
that night hubby asked me ''where are the delicious mushrooms''
I said ''there aren't anymore we ate them all up''
My mistake I realize was underestimating the mind
cause all during that supper I kept thinking ''I can't believe I'm eating poisoned mushrooms''
but Bill thought they were from health food store
one of us got violently ill
and the other wanted them again

I would agree that your state of mind has much to do with your state of health.

My brother ate some bad mushrooms once - he lived, but he regretted it.

hi oki
your post to 4cj is true
I don't think there are too many in-jokes yet
of course our captain claimed on thread one
he had personal audience with pope
and His Holiness was highly amused at captain's jokes in Spanish bout the hapless monk
captain also claimed he made off with priceless paintings
so he had fruitful time with Holiness

I feel for your brother
I feel better that I am not the only one to eat poisoned mushrooms
it's amazing how many experiences we have in common
your dogs are weirdos like mine
and your brother ate poisoned mushrooms like I did

hi habs
I am sorry our thread did not fit the breaking news activism category
but I think ac was right to place it next to the hobbit hole
until the ETs choose to make their presence here officially known
we are lucky to have made General Interest at all

My dogs are strange - my brother is weird but I guess he can't help it. I have fun telling my kids about all the stupid things I did - of course at that time I didn't think they were stupid. ;o)

I bet your kids love your stories
when I was kid, I loved my parents' stories of when they were little
altho my mom was better storyteller than my dad
I guess my dad thought his stories were funny
but I was a little girl and soft hearted and felt sorry for him when I heard them
the one which sticks in my mind is ''I called the teacher 'pisher' I didn't know what it meant
the teacher told my mom to wash my mouth out with soap and she did''
both my parents only spoke yiddish till they started kindergarten
altho I don't believe for one minute my dad didn't know what pisher meant

I found the thread you pinged me to with pics of Flash, the dog from ''Dukes of Hazzard''
those pics are knock outs
I hadn't realized how lovely Flash is
I wish I had been into bassets when I used to watch the show everyday
