Sen. Kennedy, 74, floats 2028 prez bid if ‘a bunch of goobers run’ — as he goes after Trump

WASHINGTON — Verbal sharpshooter Sen. John Kennedy kept the door open to a 2028 presidential run and defended Sen. Tom Cotton from President Trump’s wrath over his blocking of the Sunshine Protection Act.

“My plans right now are to run for re-election, but as I’ve said before, if I don’t think I can be effective in the Senate anymore, I would consider it,” the 74-year-old told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

“I haven’t made a decision. If a bunch of, on my side of the aisle, if a bunch of goobers run, and I think they’re goobers, and one of the goobers might win, and I think I could do a better job, I would consider running.”

The Louisiana soundbite whiz, who has a knack for going viral with his one-liners and thick southern drawl, is up for re-election in 2028.

His colleague, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), was taken down in a primary earlier this year after Trump pushed for Rep. Julia Letlow (R-La.) to oust him.

But that hasn’t deterred Kennedy (R-La.) from raising questions about the president or his administration. Kennedy’s questioning of former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem over publicly funded ads notably came right before her firing.

At 74 he’s a little young to be considering running for President. Of course he will be 76 in 2028.

Senator Kennedy is definitely not another Senator Bill Cassidy who has been a longtime periodic traitor/back-stabber. He’ll have ZERO problems being reelected.

He might even be funnier than Trump. I think America would like him.

“The president Senator Kennedy, as we know... he exists loudly... He can be tempestuous. He can go from zero to a-hole in about three seconds.”

I love President Trump and I love Senator Kennedy, but that comment describes each of them.

I also wonder just who Kennedy considers a "goober". Vance? Rubio? Desantis? I would hope not.

FR Boomers are endlessly gullible if they believe this faker with his corn pone antics and scenery chewing “Southerner” act.

The guy is a Rhodes Scholar (just like Bill Clinton) and graduate of Oxford University in England.

I love watching videos of Senator Kennedy, verbal tearing apart helpless Karen’s, and AWFULs who are too stupid to know they should never have come up against Senator Kennedy with their idiot views.

The down home wit of Kennedy started to lose its novel appeal to me over a year ago. He can be witty, but he’s no dynamo. Now he kind of reminds me an old grandpa whose family serves him oatmeal every morning, puts his dentures back in and then sits him on the front porch to make sure no dogs crap in the yard.

I’ve been getting numerous RNC e-mails purporting to be from Sen. Kennedy. They mostly tell me how “tired” and “anxious” he is. I delete them before reading the body. Based on the opening, he sounds like he is not fit for the job.

Just what we need. Another person who will be a geezer by the time they are elected and sworn.

Nope. It’s time to let the next round step up.

Too old to be POTUS. He’d be a good VP for shits and giggles. The GOP needs that to show the country we know how to lighten up. I’d give him the job b4 ‘28 if there’s a SCOTUS opening for Vance.
