According to the website, the George Inn dates back to 1397 (https://butcombe.com/the-george-inn-somerset/). That’s a mere child compared to Ireland’s oldest pubs: Sean’s Bar (https://www.seansbar.ie/) allegedly dates to 900 AD and the Brazen Head (https://brazenhead.com/) established in 1198 AD. Both claim they are the oldest pub in Ireland. We have been to both, and my bet is on the Brazen Head located in the “Viking” section of Dublin.

-The Pub and culture of that era in England will disappear in a short time since the Country has been given away to the muslims. Suckers!

The George Inn in Norton St Philip, Somerset, is widely recognized as England's earliest surviving purpose-built inn.

Drank one evening at the oldest pub in Newcastle. Been serving their brew for hundreds of years. Two weeks later, it burned out.

They haven’t even let go inside to get a refill since. 8<)

The oldest tavern I've ever been to was in Germany. Don't know the date of it, but it was OLD. Had my first taste of 'smoked' beer. It was like licking an ashtray! Ugh!

I grew up in Milwaukee, so going to a tavern was normal for us. Milwaukee's oldest, 'Landmark 1850' is set to re-open this coming March. It was originally the, 'Cologne House' because it was someone's home.

Nope. It’ll require my driving past every farm selling melons by the side of the road. 🍉

No, not every thread that has something to do with the UK needs to turn into a Muslim thread, and that is what is happening on FR, it gets boring, not every thread about a wide variety of topics has to be the same over and over.

I like the Hand and Flower Pub in London built in 1822. It’s a new place.

Grew up there in the 60’s. It was a wonderful place to be a kid. I always felt safe. My Uncles were all Cops or Firemen or worked for one of the Breweries.

By the 70’s were were outta there. I thanked my Dad often through the years. ;)

A lot of my English ancestors came from the Cotswolds, so some towns and villages would be on the itinerary, along with Cuttle Mill (imho the site of the Battle of Watling Street), some relatives (never met 'em, showed up in my DNA matche, they're on my great-great-gma's side, she came over much later), the Tate Gallery, that odd shell grotto (Margate, Kent), and Richborough.

Short drum roll followed by a cymbal strike.

My DNA is mostly Irish and Scottish Highlands. I also have a bit of Norwegian probably because the Vikings raided and pililaged both Ireland and Scotland for a thousand years.

Back to your joke: Unlike way too many races, religions, and ethnicities, I can laugh at jokes that make fun of my ethnic stereotypes. No temper tantrums, throwing my phone, lawsuits, or rioting. Just another beer on a happy Sunday. Thanks for the chuckle.
