When Fukushima exploded, foreign embassies told everyone to FLEE.
Commercial planes turned around. Ships steered away as fast as they could.
An invisible radiation cloud was drifting across the ocean. And where was the USS Ronald Reagan?
STEERING DIRECTLY INTO IT.
AT MAXIMUM SPEED.The radiation alarms were screaming on the bridge.
Every textbook said: "Turn back. Save yourselves."The Captain and his crew said:
"There are Japanese families shivering on rooftops out there. WE DON'T TURN BACK."24 hours a day, in freezing sleet, they ran their desalination plants to the brink of failure.
Sailors gave up their OWN fresh water.
They stopped taking hot showers.
They ate cold rations.Why?
To produce tens of thousands of gallons of pure, uncontaminated drinking water for Japanese babies.Mechanics with radiation badges worked through the night on snow-covered decks so helicopters could fly non-stop rescue sorties.
While the world backed away in terror,
American sailors ran through the fire for us.Never tell me true heroes don't wear dog tags. 🇺🇸🔥🇯🇵

But we are a horrible, bloodthirsty terroristic country.
Just ask Hasan “Chop” Piker.
The legacy of RR, always a shining beacon. Go Navy.
True? Never knew it.
In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled When Fukushima exploded, foreign embassies told everyone to FLEE. Commercial planes turned around. Ships steered away as fast as they could. I believe it's true. When I read about it, back when it was happening, the MSM made it sound like incompetence and indifference to the survival of the enlisted onboard. I was moved to finally read of the mission. The writer is a man from Japan now living in the US, writing about the contrasts in culture, often humorously.
I’ve been following Nobunaga for a few months now, maybe several. Good guy.
True without doubt. Read the Wikipedia account.
These were obama years, not celebrating our greatness and generosity does not surprise me.
These things make me proud to be an American. These kinds of things is who we are supposed to be.
Many of the crew have suffered radiation sickness and are suing Tokyo Power.
There are pictures of the flight deck being decontaminated.
Of course, Wikipedia doesn’t mention it in the article about Fukashima. In the article about USS Ronald Reagan, it has only negative things to say. No surprise there.
Apparently there was a wind shear right down the middle of the carrier. Look at the two flags blowing in opposite directions!
Why am I not surprised that a vile Anti-American, far-left troll like yourself would slander our brave sailors?

And this just cancels out all the good thoughts. Not for our troops but for our government.
How can it be denied they were exposed? The ship appears to have needed to be washed down. There are pictures of what sure look like decontamination operations.
DoD said they did ot believe they were exposed but did offer to allow people to register for checkups or something. That was in 2012.
