Florida deputies said they got way more than they bargained for when they were investigating a domestic incident that involved a mother and her son.
Christina Clemens, 46, of Lakeland, southwest of Orlando, called for help claiming that her son, Shane Clemens, 22, hit her during the domestic dispute, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
"Shane, you ought not ever lay a hand on your mama," Sheriff Judd said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
According to Judd, Shane Clemens became angry after his mother called deputies and they arrested him. That's when he informed deputies that he and his mother had been having a sexual relationship since he was 18 years old, according to Judd.
"That's when we asked mama, 'Have you been having sex with your son since he was 18?'" Judd said.
That's when Christina Clemens allegedly replied, "only about 100 times."
After that, deputies said detectives became involved and spoke with Christina Clemens' husband and asked him if they were happily married and living together.
The husband, who wasn't identified, said he had no idea that his wife and her son were having sex, but found it suspicious that they would go into the master bedroom and lock the door.
"That's nasty, and that's illegal," Judd said.
Christina Clemens and her son, Shane Clemens, were both charged with incest, Judd continued. In addition, Christina was charged with adultery.

So is the husband suing for divorce? I’d think he might have grounds...
Yep. Per Gemini:
Yes, adultery is technically a crime in Florida. Under Florida Statute § 798.01, "living in an open state of adultery" is classified as a second-degree misdemeanor.
Key Details of the LawThe Legal Standard: The law specifically targets individuals who live in an open state of adultery. This generally requires more than a single, isolated affair or casual dating. It typically applies to an ongoing, continuous relationship where a married person openly cohabits or presents themselves as a couple with someone other than their spouse.
Who Can Be Charged: If either person in the relationship is married, both parties can be deemed guilty of the offense.
Penalties: A second-degree misdemeanor in Florida carries potential penalties of up to 60 days in jail, six months of probation, and a $500 fine.
The article says they charged her with adultery. I had no idea adultery was an arrestable offense. Now about the incest. Do we really want to spend tax dollars putting these two in jail? I mean yes it was definitely wrong but is putting them in jail serve any real purpose? Maybe register as a sex offender and be on that list for the rest of your life.
where a married person openly cohabits or presents themselves as a couple with someone other than their spouse.
They were doing it in secret so they were not open about it nor did they represent themselves as a couple.
True, and I suspect the adultery charge won't stick. The incest charges likely will.
Right?

Obviously.

How did Adam and Eve succeed?
If such unions produce offspring, it certainly explains a lot about “Florida Man”.
In the not-very-good movie "Kick-Ass 2" that's what the main villain named himself.

To his credit it was about his attitude, not Florida misdemeanors.
My Mother the Car
