A Bronx judge found a mother of two suffering from postpartum psychosis not guilty of killing her young children in 2022 — while jurors in Massachusetts are in the middle of deliberating a similar fate for Lindsay Clancy.
Dimone Fleming, 26, was found not responsible by mental disease or defect in court on Monday for the deaths of her two children, 3-year-old Daishawn Fleming and 11-month-old Octavius Canada, at a Bronx family shelter, the New York Times reported.
On the night of the gruesome killings, Fleming was “grossly psychotic and out of touch with reality,” according to psychiatrist Dr. Eric Goldsmith.
Goldsmith, who evaluated Fleming at the request of the prosecution, said she was hallucinating, convinced that the world was coming to an end and believed a spirit had invaded her body.
Similarly, “Ms. Fleming believed her actions were necessary to protect or ‘cleanse’ her children,” according to a forensic psychiatrist report written by doctors hired by the defense.
Before the killings, Fleming had been treated at a Queens hospital for two months, where she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and prescribed psychotropic medication, the Times reported, citing court records.
But the mother of two did not take her medication as prescribed and instead used marijuana daily — which reportedly exacerbated her mental health symptoms.
Mental examinations ordered by both the prosecution and defense determined Fleming was in a state of psychosis at the time of the bloody killings.

I beg to disagree. As a guy who grew up in farming country, I know it happens in the animal world as well. Most women get through it without calamity - obviously some do not. Husband’s need to be better schooled on its effects on the mother’s mental state. I firmly believe that in today’s medicated world, anti-depressant drugs play a major role. I had a nephew who was taking an anti-depressant and he went in his closed garage, turned on the car and committed suicide. What’s unfortunate with the Clancy case is the deviousness of the mother to stage the event despite her husband’s apparent best efforts and earnest support. I can’t imagine his trauma and how he is dealing with it all.
I was the head nurse of a psychiatric ward in the 1970s. We had a few cases of women with postpartum psychosis admitted.
These women were flamingly and totally out-of-control psychotics. Very sad. With Thorazine, they regained control.
Women and their families need to be educated about this very serious condition. When the first signs are seen, the women and their children need protection, careful supervision, and immediate hospitalization.

you cannot expect a man who is not used to taking his child to day care to remember there is a baby in the backseat. that’s not part of his routine./s......but people use that excuse to defend him. so everyone needs to step up and take care of their children, so the kids don’t die.

Not one doctor diagnosed Clancy with postpartum psychosis. Watched the whole trial.
The children are murdered.......dead. She is responsible for that. Yes, she is mentally ill, however, she should be held responsible for that and taken out of society.
So she purposefully refused to take her meds and smoked Weed instead. It was murder by intent.

That reads like she’s not guilty of taking their lives.
The judge may have found her not guilty of murder but she still killed them.
This true story is what can happen when you give these ghoulish women a not guilty verdict and put them in a mental home.

That used to be the case. Used to be if someone committed a serious offence but couldn’t be convicted criminally because of their mental condition, it was usually accompanied by life in a mental facility.

My wife went absolutely bat shit crazy post partem with one of our kids.
It’s a real thing.
She’s a very sane medical doctor and logically recognized she had a problem. So she cooperated in her removal from the home.
Fortunately I was there, she got moved to her parents for a couple weeks and it all blew over.
This doesn’t excuse this double murder, at all. But don’t dismiss post partem issues, at all. They’re real and dangerous.

I agree drugs made things worse in both cases. Probably the real cause as you say.
But post partem depression/psychosis is very very real.
The problem is the leftist feminist losers are going to take this issue (that humans have been dealing with since time immorial) and leverage it into some leftist agenda.
