The Phoenicians had almost no land, no vast armies and no great empire. Yet they shaped the ancient world in ways that still affect us today.
So what did they understand that everyone else missed? The Phoenicians Knew Something They Shouldn't Have | 18:07

That is a great article, SC. Lots of interesting notions in ancient history that I had not thought of before. Thanks for posting it.
BTW, I just read your nicely formatted transcript as an article. I didn’t watch the video. Thanks for taking the time to take the transcript and clean it up into a readable bit of prose.
They were Canaanites, which no doubt included Danites.
Thanks for the kind remarks! This vid probably originated due to current world events and how trade leads to greater prosperity and wealth.
Think above the brilliant colors of the clothing of wealthy men in paintings, or movies set before the middle of the 19th century. Brilliant colors derived from natural sources either faded rapidly, and had to be replaced, at a time when clothing was orders of magnitude more expensive than it is now, or it was worn faded. In either case, a man in brilliantly colored clothing was a clear marker of wealth.
Then the Germans invented the modern chemical industry, and developed artificial dies, at a time when industrial production techniques were reducing the price of clothing. Suddenly middle class men, and ambitious lower class men, were parading around like peacocks in bright colors, and in reaction wealthy men began dressing in black and gray, which, apart from the 1970s, they have continued to do so, for business attire at least.
There were a number of sneaky typos in the transcript, while I was previewing it those were easier to notice. Often with the YT-generated transcript the same actual word (proper names, placenames, but pretty much anything under the Sun) will have at least two different spellings.
Wouldn’t that be α, β, γ ( Alpha, Beta, Gamma) or more precisely 𐤀 ,𐤁, 𐤂 ,(gīml, bēt, ʾālep)? (Of course, Phonecian, like Hebrew, is written right to left.)
ʾālep, OX
bēt, House
gīml Stick
Scarcity is often the primary factor in value. Imitation, fakery, and knockoffs are probably nothin’ new.

Their ancestors stopped being mad as hell, and wound up not having to take it any more. Best part of ancient seagoing trade was, after the deal, you could make a quick getaway. I'd imagine they'd time their sales so the tide was about to be in their favor.
This is the first one I’ve seen of this guy’s vids that didn’t have any teeth-rattlin’ clickbait crap. I’ve got one cued up in another tab for later viewing... uh... clearly I have too many tabs open as usual... ah here it is:

excerpted from Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa_(consort_of_Zeus)
The story of the mythical princess Europa. She is generally said to be the daughter of Agenor, the Phoenician King of Tyre.
The Dictionary of Classical Mythology explains that Zeus was enamoured with Europa and decided to seduce or rape her, the two being near-equivalent in Greek myth. He transformed himself into a tame white bull and mixed in with her father’s herds. While Europa and her helpers were gathering flowers, she saw the bull, caressed his flanks, and eventually got onto his back. Zeus took that opportunity and ran to the sea and swam, with her on his back, to the island of Crete.
[The myth of Europa may have been intended as an allegory of how European civilization was an offshoot from Phonecian, and explain the similarities in alphabets. It is interesting that the Catholic Priest and Astronomer Simon Marius named the Galilean moons of Jupiter after “consorts” of Jupiter.]
Interesting observation & insights. I never thought of that before. Thanks.
It’s like food. Long ago before large-scale agriculture and industrial food production, only the wealthy could afford to be fat. But with plentiful, cheap, high carb foods, the poorest of the poor could be fat, while the rich, with their spas, salons, trainers, chefs could afford to be thin.
I’d imagine they’d time their sales so the tide was about to be in their favor.

not tide, but current in their favor.
Thx. The practice of dreaming up an origin based on a word or word similarities seems someone common in ancient traditions.
Cadmus (transliteration of the Semitic Nikodamos; Greek Nikomedes) apparently had to run for it, or rather sail for it, when the Assyrians wandered in and sacked his city.
They don't. Much of the teaching profession are nut cases. Once the “hard” sciences were the things that were important.
Remember, science is not all of what makes a nation great.
Faith and knowledge have an important factor.

China putting out 'fight Data Centers' to their butt boys in the American press - the MSM - is the same as Hitler pushing propaganda though the New York Times expressing great concern for women factory women building munitions in World War II. Hitler's great 'concern' having more to do with advantage than giving a damn'... Why can't our 'journalists' see what's happening?
That’s exactly the point I made at the time!
What I would suspect is that being seamen and traders, they intermarried with the locals wherever they established themselves. The language though was canaanite, mutually intelligible with hebrew. Carthaginian was descended from “Phoenician” and had substantially diverged, meaning it would no longer have been mutually intelligible with hebrew. As I understand it.
