There was an accident with a motorcyclist who ran into a bridge in our area - he was decapitated. When the person who came upon the scene called 911 and explained what happen, like the guy’s head was not attached to the body, the 911 operator was insisting to check if the guy was dead and to check him out. Ya, rly??

Hospitals are not allowed to discharge a patient without a responsible party picking up and accepting responsibility for that patient.

Somebody dumped that man on the side of the road. The hospital is at fault or the man’s family is at fault or perhaps the nursing home did send a person to go get the man. The story does not say.

I suspect the nursing home was staffed by uninterested, unqualified friends, family members, and/or DEI hires who weren’t willing or able to do their job.

Outrageous! Most nursing homes hire the absolute cheapest help they can find; it’s all about the benjamins. Administrators get bonuses based on how little they spend. I was Director of Nurses at one, and was not satisfied with the quality of care. When the administrator fired me, I told her what a poor specimen of administrator she was. She drew herself up and replied, “My bosses are very happy with me!” I told her to try spending some money and see how they liked her. Several months after I left, it was closed down; a couple of the LPNs had been abusing patients. Thank God I was not director at that time.

Nursing homes aren’t homes, and they don’t provide medical care. Each patient is a meal ticket, allowing the facility to rake in big bucks. Most patients are unable to look after themselves or to defend their rights, so the facilities use them as the excuse to bill Medicare. They are hell on earth.

“Nursing home tells 911 CPR is being performed on a patient, but it wasn’t, raising questions about man’s death”. I’ve been trying to get my wife of 47 years into that nursing home, but they won’t take her.

I see a lot of nursing homes and they’re mostly hell holes. Eloping is common.

I once facilitated nursing home escape by an “unresponsive” patient playing possum with the LPNs. When we loaded him into the ambulance he raised his head, smiling ear to ear. I told him I was happy to provide the respite if he could state a medical complaint.

I used to do nursing home ministry. If people really cared about their family members, they’d do whatever it took to keep them out of one of those hell holes.

When my mother developed Alzheimer’s, my wife decided to keep her in the home with us so that she could be spared the indignation of the nursing home. She lived for another 9 1/2 years, 5 of that on hospice, before passing away. As hard as that was with three of my daughters still home, we have no regrets.
