Voters asked for mass deportations. Clear demand. High priority. No ambiguity. The guy running DHS is making the case for “immigration reform.” We’ve seen this script before. [Tr] (Video at URL)

"Immigration reform” is the polite label they use when they want to legalize people who entered illegally and call it compassion.

Enforcement always comes “later.”

Later never arrives.

You don’t hire a fire chief who keeps talking about better ways to negotiate with the arsonists.

You hire the one who puts the fire out.

Putting the “reform” guy in charge of deportations is a reliable system for ensuring you lose.

Not a conspiracy. Just pattern recognition."

RE: Deuteronomy 14:23

I have tithed my offering at many a church supper :)

“And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.” NKJV

Last time I checked 70% of our farm labor were American citizens. We have over 400 guest worker programs that allow people to come here temporarily to pick crops.

When I climbed out of the bottle and the wreckage it had made of my life I was determined to do something more than mouth off from a bar stool.

So I volunteered my time as an Adult literacy Tutor Volunteer.

I found it very rewarding.

Well, not sure where you looked last or when you last looked, but according to the following response by AI:

This statement is incorrect. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the 2022 National Agricultural Workers Survey, only about 32–34% of hired crop farmworkers are U.S.-born citizens.

The majority of the agricultural workforce consists of immigrants:

66% are noncitizen immigrants, including those with and without work authorization.

Approximately 40–47% of hired crop farmworkers lack work authorization (are undocumented).

Only about 19% are authorized immigrants (such as green-card holders).

While roughly one-third of the workforce is American, the claim that 70% are citizens significantly overstates their proportion in the industry.

The following are the references from which AI got the information from:

https://www.wbur.org/onpoint/2025/07/08/american-farmers-unauthorized-workers: Why American farmers rely on unauthorized workers

https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/chart-gallery/63466: Legal status of hired crop farmworkers, fiscal 1991–2022

https://www.kff.org/racial-equity-and-health-policy/potential-implications-of-immigration-restrictions-on-the-u-s-agricultural-workforce/: Potential Implications of Immigration Restrictions on the U.S. Agricultural Workforce

https://www.reddit.com/r/PoliticalDiscussion/comments/yc57x7/73_of_us_farm_labor_are_migrants_the_usda/: 73% of US farm labor are migrants. The USDA estimates that half are undocumented. Given the significance, why is this overlooked by conservative rural America?

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskEconomics/comments/1ll7677/how_true_is_it_that_american_farms_would_be_able/: ow true is it that American farms would be able to find American workers for the right wage instead of relying on undocumented migrants?

What would be the right wage? Probably higher than most citizens could afford afford the additional costs that would add to fra products. An immigrant that will return home with what they are paid, will view that pay as moere than adequate, but I doubt citizens could prosper from the pay that the immigrants realizes.

Sorry for the delayed response, as I had actually typed this up, but got distracted by the pets, and never hit the post button. I also do not come here as often as I used to, because it's summer, and chores don't get done just because they exist. That requires hands-on involvement. 😁🤙

Even if those percentages have changed we still have the guest worker programs which allow for seasonal workers. They do not need to live here permanently.

He said citizens not American born.

No more work visas. Farmers can pay Americans or let their crop rot.

He never said anuyuthing aout them living here permanently, so that doesn't even play into that argument. He is dead against amenesty anyway.

Tes there are guest visas, and perhaps that was more along the line he was talking about when it came to immigration reforms. So, what yoiu are saying is that we need more information, I agree, he needs to expand upon his statement in order that we can fully understand his position. The last thing we need though are kneew-jerk reactions as to what someone, unknown, who makes a post. Its nopt uncommon for America haters to pretend that they are lovers of this nation to post things th\at drive wedges, in order to make us fractured.

Brilliant. When farmers are lost, you may regretg that. You think about that for a while. Listen to Victor Davis Hanson who grew up in a family farming business. You might learn something that you think you know bout, yet your words belie that knowledge you believe you have.

He said citizens not American born.

He didn't say citizens at all, for if that were the case he wouldn't even need to talk about immigration reform to modernize the system and "plug holes" in the economy where domestic workforce participation is low.

The "domestic workforce" consists of natural born, as well as, naturilzed citizens. It also includes some green card holders who have not officially become citizens of this nation yet.

So, I am not sure where you pulled that argument from, vecause I said Americans, I made no distinction between any tpe of citizen other than the use of Americans not reall wanting to work in the farm fields.

“ reform to modernize the system and “plug holes” in the economy where domestic workforce participation is low.”

Holes my butt. Pay a wage that will get Americans to do it. I’d rather import the cherry tomatoes than the 3rd world to do it. All the same to me.

I have been advocating for that for decades, as well as, getting rid of H-1B Visas which are the bigger scam han field workers for farmers.

So, its okay in yourt mind if we elimiate our farmers. In your mind they are expendable.

Utter fooloishness. There is no guarnatee the higher wages will draw farm labors from the domestic pool. As I said the safety nets works fine for the ones that wish to get something for nothing, but it will increase the cost of food and risk the loss of farmers, just as it has raised the prrice of fast food, by triple the amount, and people are unwilling to eat at fast food places as mush as they used to, when the meal cost 5 dollars, and now run close to 20 dollars.

You seem to have simple solutions, problem is simple solutions usually create unseen problems, because the solutions were not well thought out, and the problem it wwas designed to fix, only made the original problem far more severe.

I'm really not trying to be mean, it's just that you are not really examining what the result would be with siple solutions.

You are smarter than that Startt exercising critcal thinkig, and not turn to quick simple solutions. If it were that easy, your solutions would be enacted. Problem is they were enacted, and the issues I raise are what arose.

When ever minimum wage was raised, the beneft for the people they were trying to help, only fueled wage increases acroos the board sooner, rather than later, and shortly thereafter, the people were in the same position they were in at the lower minimum wage, because the costs borne by employers, had to raisde proces of their goods & services, to keep uip thmselves.

Trump is trying to raise wages by creating better hig paying jobs, which are the jobs people with families to support and raise, want & need. The more jobs created, creates more opportunities for thos who want to work to better themselves.

That is how you put Americans back to ork, by creating good paying jobs, not jobs that put you out in the hot weather doing hard manual labor all day. If the farmer can get his goods to the marketplacem then he too will make what he needs to stay in business. Most farm jobs, do provide places to stay at no cost, as well as, provide meals. So, the transient Americans might take the available jobs, but not enough to fulfill the needs of the farms to remain in bsiness.

Yes, H-2A visas are the primary non-immigrant work visas used by U.S. agricultural employers to hire foreign nationals for temporary or seasonal agricultural work, such as planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. This program is uncapped, meaning there is no annual limit on the number of visas issued, and it is specifically designed for jobs where there is a shortage of available domestic workers.

For permanent or long-term positions, farmers may utilize EB-3 green cards (specifically the "Other Workers" category), which allow employers to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency after obtaining a PERM labor certification. This pathway is less common and involves a longer, more complex process compared to the temporary H-2A program.

Key distinctions between these visa types include:

Duration: H-2A visas are temporary, generally limited to up to 10 months per contract, while EB-3 leads to permanent residency.

Requirements: H-2A employers must guarantee housing, transportation, and meals at no cost to the worker and pay at least the prevailing wage.

Eligibility: H-2A does not require higher education or specialized skills, making it accessible for unskilled labor, whereas EB-3 is for workers without bachelor's degrees who perform unskilled labor.

These are the same requirements for those in the domesic pool as well, but the domestic pool as citizens are eligible for other forms of safetl nets, anmd thus they tend to take that form of support, rather than work in the filds as domesttic workers in the fields. what the farmers get in these sesonal times when they make money, and that money has to make that money last until the next planting season comes around, along with twhat is need to plant the new seasons crop.

Are you willing to pay a drastic rise in your grocery bill?

If not, the cheap labor force from non citizens who are willing to work those jobs, because for them, they money they take home to their families, is how they get by from one season to the next.

This is not difficult to understand.

The afford ability problem is the direct cause of openng this nation's gates, and taking in people that every tax paying citizen has to pay for their existence in this nation, and the peole who are complaining about affordability, are the ones who are fighting against the deportation, to those foreign invaders.

I must say that you disappoint me, that these foreign workers are needed, and without them , everyone of those experiencing afforability issues are in place to benefoit the American citizens, who the maority have no desire to work in the fields in what is an natractive way for them to survive.

It's the reality, no matter how much you bleat about pauing a wage that the farmer cannot payy, which in turn makes him fail, and become yet another citizen that joins the unemployed, and the citizens then become ddependenent upon the big farmers, will be setting the prices, for they could carless f you survive. In fact, they would just as soon see you pass, because then you become one less uselles consumer that they costantly demand bot be savedm dor the sake ud sustainability.

This reality, seems to pass right over your head, becaus eyou do not understand economic, and the realities of them, being offered up because they do not wnat to see people perish.

What you offer up, are not well thought out, and therefore you fail to see that what you propose are not only uinworkable, but will in reality worsen the problems.

You realize they could quadruple the pay of pickers and the cost of an apple you pay would go up a few cents if that. That’s because a picker picks 200 to 300 per hour. So if he is paid $10/hr then that equates to 3 cents an apple. At $40/hr that is 12 cents per apple. $40/hr was a high figure for comparison . But a decent wage of $15 to $20 would only raise the price 5 cents. The average apple costs 75 cents, so now 80cents. A small price to pay for sovereignty.

End all H visas. Stop the fear and madness .
