Tennessee has the worst quality of life in the country, according to CNBC, which gave the Volunteer State an F for quality of life in its annual ranking of the best states for businesses.
Why it matters: State leaders often pride themselves on making Tennessee as business-friendly as possible, but CNBC's closely watched rankings highlight some reasons businesses might stay away.
How it works: Multiple variables were considered when scoring states on their quality of life, including crime rates, the availability of affordable child care and paid leave policies.
CNBC also considered "inclusiveness in state laws, including protections against discrimination of all kinds."
The score also factors Tennessee's strict anti-abortion laws, with CNBC citing data showing many younger workers avoid working in states that ban abortions.
The top state based only on quality of life was Vermont.

I live south of Nashville and we have been saying for YEARS “We’re FULL” Just can’t get the local government to stop packing the place!!
I feel a little hypocritical as I’m one of those Yankees who came and stayed. However I might have some leeway as we’ve been here 40 years and we both have family roots in the south.

Tennessee is terrible. Stay away from here...I mean from there. It gets too hot and too cold. Not enough rain except when it floods. Too many hills on one end and not enough on the other. Terrible place. I here Atlanta is nice.

So parts of Tennessee, excepting Nashville and Memphis, have the least government interference in peoples’ lives. Sounds good, but vast numbers of people are moving into the State, and they are likely to demand more dependency and interference in peoples’ lives. Maybe articles like this one will deter immigration of those who fear the self-reliance freedom requires.
Do the Big Cities dominate population and politics enough to dictate to the free parts of the State, as has happened in Virginia?

On the plus side, if people who care about killing babies and love trannies view that list and decide to avoid Tennessee and other red states? So much the better.
Excellent question, considering that's the trend all over the country. While Nashville/Davidson County (a unified Metro government) is deep Blue the State government in that capitol stays around 2/3 Republican.
Memphis is a failed African nation that somehow teleported to the right side of the Mississippi River, long ruled by dynastic families not too unlike Tudors and Plantagenets. The Democrat's iron grip has just been broken by favorable re-redistricting and Republican candidates have resumed running for offices with some chance for victory. Work in progress. President Trump's utilization of the National Guard has restored order there while Elon Musk is busy putting in a data center.
The East end city Knoxville remains sturdily conservative but liberal migration has created stress and tensions. South Eastern Chattanooga is about an even split, but has done wonders in the last few decades becoming a mecca for tourism.
The CNBC report utterly neglected to mention how we're a top automotive producer with thriving health care and I.T. industries, among others. If Tennessee can maintain the even keel it has it shouldn't worry overmuch about Democrat's uncanny ability to ruin everything. Did I mention the massive gun culture?

Virginia was ruined by the post 9-11 influx of security state/government employees and contractors into Northern Virginia. The Republican Party here is very weak, and seemingly does not care to develop candidates or its rural voter base. Eastern Tennessee seems attractive. Western Tenn. seems like no place for old white folks.
