Human beings have an amazing and underrated ability to adapt.

I was always profoundly amazed to see our troops over in Iraq, fully clothed in multiple layers of heavy clothing and armor, carrying ordnance and other equipment, sleeves rolled down and buttoned, shirts all the way up to the base of the neck, helmet on the head and fastened...in 110 degree heat!

I asked a vet how they did that, it looked like it would be impossible to function, and he said casually “You just get used to it.”
