Pete Buttigieg's harrowing swatting story from last week is now coming under scrutiny, suggesting he may not be telling the entire truth.
As TGP's Jordan Conradson reported, Buttigieg claims he was swatted this week by Child Protective Service agents and separated from his four-year-old twins.
Buttigieg ran to Substack to write a column about the incident.
Describing himself as "bewildered and troubled," Buttigieg said that "the CPS worker told me something that made my stomach turn: I was not to be alone around the children, at least until the interview took place the next day."
After a "sleepless night," he says, the officers told him that an anonymous tipster told police that he had spoken to a woman. She said that Buttigieg had "committed unspeakable violent crimes, and the caller believed my children were still at risk."
"After the officer spoke, the CPS worker likewise indicated she had not found anything to substantiate the allegation, though her process would take a bit longer to be formally completed. I no longer needed to avoid being around my children unsupervised. Chasten was invited to come back downstairs and hear the same information that had just been shared with me. Then, per standard procedure, she verified that there was adequate food in our kitchen and asked to take a look at the kids' bedroom," Buttigieg wrote.
But questions are emerging that suggest Buttigieg might be embellishing at least part of his story, particularly the part about CPS separating him from his children.
One X user who said he has dealt with cases like Buttigieg's said the former transportation secretary was lying. He stated that CPS does NOT separate someone from children over unsubstantiated accusations.
To him, this suggested something more sinister was at play.
Buttigieg is lying. I deal with these kinds of cases all the time. CPS does NOT separate you from your kids over an anonymous, unsubstantiated accusation. Something serious was reported and there was corroboration for it to have gotten this far. ...Do not let him pretend at being the victim here, something serious is happening and he is trying to frame it as politics.

Andrew Kloster, a former Trump Administration lawyer, alleged that Buttigieg had acted “weird” around his kids when he and Chasten were his next-door neighbors. He also speculated that Buttigieg planted the story to gin up sympathy.
Kurt Schlichter, a California lawyer and prominent conservative writer, noted that Americans still have no clue what the specific allegations on the CPS call were.
A poster who said she had been in and out of the foster care system noted how unusual the alleged actions from CPS were based on the law, again calling Buttigieg’s claims into question.
Point: He claims CPS made it so he couldn’t see his kids until they were questioned the next day based on a single report. BULLSHIT.
I was in and out of that system and I’ve seen so many direct experiences with them it’s insane. That is considered extreme action, rarely happens, and usually a court order. Yeah I’m not buying your dramatic story or your need to be the victim so you have a good story when you run for President again.
He needs attention and he’s using his kids to do it.
While these questions being raised may eventually turn out to be nothing, we all know the media would not simply take a Republican politician’s word if they claimed to have been swatted. Buttigieg producing some actual proof would help clear things up.
But do not count on this happening.

I definitely think there’s more to this story.
I’m glad to see X awash in postings from CPS-connected people calling BS on Buttplug’s story. It is indeed quite unbelievable.
My granddaughter fell on her scooter and broker her leg. Because it was a ‘spiral’ break the hospital turned it in to CPS. I guess they are required by law to report all spiral breaks. So she is home from school at my house and CPS shows up and wants to talk to her. I said okay as long as I’m here. They asked her how she broke her leg and she told them. They were very friendly with her asking about school, etc. Then all of a sudden they slipped in....how does your mom and dad get along? Do they argue a lot? I said....stop. We’re done. Get out. Escorted them to the door. Never heard from them again.
To be fair, I thought that those were fake AI generated pics.
Yeah, he and chastity needn’t be around kids.
How could one ever forget them? (!!!) Absolute Evil rammed down the throats of the American public. For our own good, of course...
Most homosexuals were tragically introduced to such evil when they were sexually molested as children. Unable to accept what happened to them, they instead try to convince themselves and others that it was all normal and healthy. Desperate, unstable people who have no business being around —let alone adopting— children.
A homosexual male who is either pedophile or telling falsehoods about being victimized?
Well, we can all believe what we will believe.
Two butt-buddies should never be allowed to purchase children. Why anyone thinks this is a good idea is beyond me.
Certainly the notoriously partisan “Fact Check” sites claimed the image were altered. With the present state of AI it’s the wild west out there.
It’s hard to know what to believe anymore, but I wouldn’t put it past Buttplugs to do something like that.
I can’t believe it’s been more than four years since those poor children were placed in that dysfunctional home.
The moob photo is AI, you can find the original if you look, but like all good satire it doesn’t matter. It spoke so much truth that for about 40% of the public if you say Pete’s name that moob photo is the first thing they think of.
AI is getting “better” (relative term) but you can still tell the vast majority of AI generated photos and videos. The problem is too many people believe what they see at first glance (same with headlines).
Don’t forget upon getting the Transportation Sect. gig, on the first day he took “parenting” leave and was on paid time off for six months. When he finally returned to work, he had himself driven a block away from work, then biked the rest of the way to the fawning of the press corpse.
Their being allowed to adopt innocents is beyond sane.
I bet it was a nanny or daycare worker.
It's not "friendly". It's "charming". Psychopaths are very good at it. It's a tactic to get your guard down, so you reveal something that can be used against you. Their intent isn't to protect your children. Their intent is to take your children and put them in the care of people like Buttgeek.
They're not your friends. They're not your children's friends. They're not anybody's friends. Their job is to serve Government Almighty, and do whatever their perverse and perverted masters (politicians and worse) tell them to do.
You were absolutely right to shut them down and escort them out. IMO, you would have been morally right to "escort" them out with extreme vigor.
I agree with your belief and your observation is true regardless of which option is true about the events in question.
But it’s not one of the two options, which are: (1) he’s being dramatic and there was no swatting or (2) there was a swat team and there’s a lot more to this story.
That is not true. I really wish it was.
However it does not sound like he was actually separated from them only told he could not be around them unsupervised.
Which is quite a different thing.
