A New York City landlord has gone viral for dragging Marxist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani after he announced a massive rent freeze last week.
As The New York Times reported, a New York City panel voted on Thursday to freeze rents for nearly one million rent-stabilized apartments. This fulfilled one of Mamdani's prominent campaign promises.
The Rent Guidelines Board approved the freeze on both one- and two-year leases in a 7-to-1 vote. Increases were thus paused on more than 40% of all apartments across the five boroughs.
The Times revealed that this includes high-rise luxury apartments, deeply affordable subsidized units, and 150-year-old walk-ups.
Mamdani posted a video on X bragging after the Board rendered its decision, noting that more than 2 million NYC residents will be affected.
"New York, the Independent Rent Guidelines Board just froze the rent," Mamdani says while grabbing an ice cream bar from the fridge. "That means if you're one of the more than two million New Yorkers who live in a rent-stabilized apartment, your rent's gonna be frozen next year.

But NYC's Jude Jean Paul Bernard, who is a landlord, real Estate Broker, and investor, was quite unimpressed. He posted his own video to roast Mamdani and his supporters.
Bernard opens by sarcastically congratulating renters on having their rent frozen, then pours out a cold reality that neither they nor Mamdani wants to hear.

Couldn’t a legal argument be made that-—
1) denying landlords adequate revenue via rent freezes, where
2) properties are not adequately maintained due to insufficient funds, and
3) properties are then seized by the city for less than they are worth, such that
4) Steps 1-3 then violate the 5th Amendment of the Constitution, the Takings Clause?
The sort of stupid cr*p I've long heard from many conservatives.
NYC IS America. So is California, Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Austin, Memphis, Massachusetts ... and many other places conservatives write off.
You can't just keep writing off American cities and states and imagine that you're winning.
Rent freeze but the city won’t freeze taxes.
Hopefully some of the landlords will sue the city for government taking and demand compensation - there have been recent cases where police destroying your property because they thought a criminal might be inside your house resulted in them paying for the damages due to a ‘taking’. Hold them accountable to their own standards.
Nor will they freeze the price of paint, roofing, plumbing, HVAC, building materials or labor.........
Was, were
...and the 25-month lease was born.
As Obummer once said: ‘Elections has Consequences’ and New Yorkers elected a Communist. So New Yorkers, congratulations you got what you wanted...
You understand how communism works... the economic system from hell.

We need a way to stop the death march. Any ideas? Giving them more money does not work.
Sadly, socialism and communism will always be popular with those who think they can get something for nothing.
Hard to believe that any rational investor would commit private capital to build middle class housing within NYC. When investment ceases , detioration soon follows.
You really ought to realize why this is happening and why the process of being “written off” will not be reversed. These urban Democratic strongholds reflect the values and practices of a majority of their “diverse” populations. The remaining rational areas of America do not share those values. There no longer exists within America a common consensus of unifying values and practices. The country is so divided that not only do hard working, decent Americans want nothing to do with these people, they are quite indifferent as to what happens to them as a consequence of their politics and behavior. Obama was always fond of saying that “there is more that unites us than divides us” Sorry that is not true. The gaps are huge and there is no bridge.
Of course. That comes as no surprise.
Legally, I feel the lease contract should be voided after the government steps in and forces a change to the terms of that contract. That would happen in not-Bizzarro-World. And my personal feelings on the matter obviously don’t matter.
SOUNDS like what’s happening in napa valley!
92% of the votes went to the left. Enjoy.
If you voted for him, or stayed home, don’t complain. Comply and do as your told.
Quite a few NY City apartment buildings will be destroyed by fires of mysterious origin in the coming year.....
Mamdani weighs in on changing the Constitution so he can run for president
The Obamatollah finally got something right!
