High-Level Overview: The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure is hitting severe physical, economic, and social constraints. Tech giants have committed trillions of dollars to construct massive hyperscale data centers, but nearly half of the projects scheduled to open in the United States this year have already been delayed or canceled. The briefing investigates how the friction between digital ambition and physical realities—ranging from severe power grid bottlenecks to intense local community pushback—is halting the global AI buildout.
The Creator's Main Argument: The primary thesis of the video is that the explosive, unconstrained AI data center boom is hitting a hard ceiling and entering a structural reality check (or partial bubble burst). The assumption of infinite power grid capacity, infinite hardware supply chains, and infinite community patience has failed, creating an immediate growth ceiling for top AI companies that has nothing to do with the quality of their software models.

OH and the video referred to in my post #24 was about using a hybrid technique where you use local AI LLMs to reduce the reliance on distant data centers.
It is freaking amazing - energy is growth. The anti-growth, green party BS is pathetic. No offense, but you guys sound like European degrowthers.
I wouldn’t care if you were only was shooting yourself in the foot, but you are aiming at the USA. China isn’t slowing down on energy production, data centers, chips or AI.
This is the first time in decades the US has broken out of its stupor and is actually building something. Don’t stop it. let’s go!!
Rick Beato just put out a great video about this subject.
The Models are going to be in the computer and run locally

The economic law of diminishing returns.
The first mile of interstate was very stimulating to the economy. the last, not so much
The initial dollars spent on government were good for the economy. lately they are negative return.
They will eventually be converted to homeless shelters.
That is ridiculous! This is a massive waste of capital and for the most part little is being used for anything that makes any sense. These companies are involved in a circular flow of funds that has hidden what is actually going on and resulted in unbelievable fraudulent over valuations which are siphoning money that average Joes have in their stock and mutual fund portfolios and transferring this money into the pockets of shady insiders. You are just acting as a stooge in a process that you have no understanding of.
I started this thread in an effort to try and wake up those who get a steady diet of misinformation from the PT Barnum tech masters. Obviously, there are many who will never be reachable until they learn the hard way.
AI is Creative Destruction on steroids. Five years from now everything will look completely different, and some of the big players *cough* Anthropic *cough* will be a distant memory.
Thank you for the link! Yes, there have been recent amazing advances made in local hardware capable of running heavy duty LLMs locally. I have a fairly capable home lab setup and have been running LLMs locally, but with the current pricing structure, it does not make a lot of sense for many people.
If the data center cabal had not driven the price of memory, storage, and GPUs up by 3 times by hogging all the means of production. These machines would already be available at reasonable prices and the need for AI Data Centers would already be starting to wane dramatically.
This harkens back to the beginning of the PC era where mainframes were still being used by big business for serious endeavors. PCs took over for many good reasons. This AI data center nonsense is echoing a past distant enough that most here do not remember it. There will still be uses for AI Data centers, but for various reasons including latency, hybrid solutions which I briefly touched on in post #24 will be the wave of the future.
I think in 5-10 years you will be able to run those kinds of models on your iPhone.
That’s why I predict in the long-run, Apple will be the big winner in AI.
” Don’t stop it. let’s go!!”
Right in your backyard!
Apple's memory architecture started the latest push forward in capable local hardware, but it remains to be seen whether their advantage will hold.
I am fairly certain this GMKtec EVO-X2 AI Mini PC Ryzen Al Max+ 395 (up to 5.1GHz) Mini Gaming Computers, 128GB LPDDR5X 8000MHz (16GB*8) 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0F53MLYQ6
I am pretty sure the $3300 price will drop to half the current price at about the same time that the inevitable Bubble either burst of deflates. And Nvidia announced their own machine in this category a couple of weeks ago. So, I do not know who will come out on top.
Your description seems like you have been in a data center. Our MCI/Verizon Business Data Center got sold to Equinix years ago.
“The assumption of infinite power grid capacity, infinite hardware supply chains, and infinite community patience has failed,”
From what I have learned from reports from the AI industries themselves, they made no such assumptions.
The is another anti-AI tragted speel and we ought to learn who paid for it.
1st suspect - lies
they claim 92% of 2025 GDP growth was attributable to A.I. data center build out, but that comes from a researched estimate, with plenty of caveats, that said “between 20% - 92%”. That gap is from the softness of the data, which makes the outright 92% claim less than a half truth and closer to a lie.
Again, we should want to know who paid for this and who paid for publishing it.

I think Apple will adapt, and they also want it in the iPhone.
It will be quite the trick, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Apple.
Thinking that AI will look in five years, like it does today, is like thinking that airplanes will continue to look like the planes the Wright Brothers flew. We are still in the “barnstorming phase”.
Yup.
Yup. Pearl clutching Karen’s and snowflakes.
