'Scientists were dead right': Al Gore says on 20th anniversary of 'An Inconvenient Truth' (only 4.62 years left)

The scientists have been right about climate change all along, says former Vice President Al Gore on the 20th anniversary of the release of "An Inconvenient Truth," the Oscar-winning documentary about Gore's campaign to educate people about climate change.

When asked by ABC News chief meteorologist and chief climate correspondent Ginger Zee whether the film and its predictions on global warming hold up, Gore responded, "Unfortunately, yes."

"The scientists were dead right on all the important elements of it, and it really is insane that we are continuing to use the sky as an open sewer and we're trapping so much heat every day it's equal to the amount that would be released by 800,000 Hiroshima-class atomic bombs exploding every day on the earth," Gore said during an interview with ABC News at his family farm in Tennessee.

In a review of key claims by the documentary, ABC News found that the majority of the scientific observations made in "An Inconvenient Truth" have come to fruition or are on track to in the years to come. The last 11 years -- from 2015 to 2025 -- have been the hottest on record, according to scientific data from NOAA and the Copernicus Climate Change Service and summarized in a report released earlier this year by the World Meteorological Organization.

In the film, Gore also discussed how warming oceans would cause hurricanes to be more destructive. Climate scientists over the last decade have contributed to a growing body of evidence that human-amplified warming is leading to more intense storms and allowing for the rapid intensification of tropical cyclones as they approach land.

I'm retired from the insurance world. I built stuff like this primarily for my own edification but also to bring up in meetings from time to time.

The indoctrination of climate change was very pervasive.

Like your findings mine didn't jive with what we see in the media.

One of my favorite charts was a graph of hurricanes with advancements in communication and detection. Hard to believe we've only had full satellite coverage of the North Atlantic since 1973.

My favorite talking point was how many hurricanes were there and that made landfall prior to 1851?

Did they just start in 1851??

The looks on people's faces when you start looking at the data from a different perspective were precious.

1988-he was one of the 7 democrat dwarfs running for POTUS. What separated him from the rest was 2 things: a conservative foreign policy and he stood up to Jesse Jackson. Gore was young and handsome back then. Man what a phony he turned out to be. John Edwards went down the same road but these phonies won’t let anything stop them like a love child or a dying wife. Sick.

I remember that. His wife spoke out against graphic lyrics in songs IIRC.

I've learned as long as a D is after their name they're not to be trusted.

...He says without a shred of real evidence. The same group of “scientists” in the 70’s said we’d be freezing our ⚾️⚾️ off because of global cooling.

Wikipedia says Al Gore’s net worth is approximately $300 million.

Al Gore held a pro-life stance during his early years in Congress (representing Tennessee from 1977 to 1984). By the time he ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988, he had changed his position and adopted a pro-choice stance.

Yeah, I remember those days. Got my first new "muscle car" in '73. Mustang Mach 1 w/351 Cleveland. Because of all the bogus, useless, counterproductive emissions controls, it had ~173 horsepower.

I couldn't even hop it up because we had federally mandated emissions inspections every year.

This is why I posted on an earlier thread about whether the climate change hoax is starting to diminish - that they will never give it up and will use every argument you come up with to prove they were right all along.

Yeah, my parents car was a ‘70 Mercury Montego wagon. He traded it in on a ‘74 AMC Gremlin. What a step down! But it had a straight 6 and a 3 speed manual and was good on gas.

He would’ve been President if he had won his own state... Thankfully he lost. Say what you like about Bush... A presidency run by Al Gore would’ve been a complete disaster.

The doom porn holds up....except for the fact that all of its predictions about imminent doom were dead wrong and it was a complete joke. NONE of that happened. The climate and weather patterns are pretty much as they were 20 years ago.

John Edwards has the most prosperous personal injury law firm in NC now. Turned me down because his firm doesn’t sue the particular hospital that I wanted to hold accountable.
