NYC’s traffic cameras are now writing fiction.
The famous “Knight Rider” car KITT has been hit with a speeding ticket in Brooklyn — despite sitting on display inside an Illinois automotive museum for years.
The Volo Museum, based north of Chicago, said it received a $50 ticket from the New York City Department of Finance tied to its replica of the famous TV car from the 1980s series starring David Hasselhoff.
“Well, this is a new one … we got this in the mail today. This is 100% legit,” the museum wrote in a Facebook post on May 7.
According to the citation, a traffic camera recorded the car speeding through a Brooklyn school zone on Ocean Parkway on April 22 at 1:02 p.m., clocking it at 36 mph in a 25 mph zone.
The museum said the vehicle — a black 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am replica — has not left the display in its building and has been parked there for years.
“A traffic camera captured Knight Rider’s KITT speeding down the streets of New York City. The camera captured the novelty license plate (not a real plate…and also a California plate).”
“Their official system ties the novelty plate to Volo Museum and we got a bill for $50!!” the post continued.
“You can’t make this up! Our KITT hasn’t moved from our museum in years! Does anyone have (David) Hasselhoffs number? He owes us $50!!!!”
The museum also shared a photo of the ticket issued by the New York City Department of Finance.
Museum officials believe the city’s system may have mistakenly linked a novelty “Knight” license plate to the museum’s display vehicle.
The car at the museum is not one of the original screen-used vehicles from “Knight Rider,” which aired from 1982 to 1986.

Berzerk Gameplay Arcade version (Stern 1980)
Once its in “ the system” you are at risk simply because you never know where it will end up and it might just reach a Sheriff’s office traffic patrol.
Once that happens when its in the hand of tyrant patrol officers they will pull you over.then proceed to demand your ID.They generally will make something up like a broken tail light or your tag is obscured .
They demand ID whether its a legit stop or not and according to them you must produce it within seconds.
If you don’t they will forcibly extract you from the drivers seat, detain you for a few but then cuff you and place you under arrest stating your are under arrest for resisting and obstructing.
If you still don’t comply with all of this they will beat the ever login’ snot out of you and if you are still alive throw you in the back of a squad car.
If they are having a bad day they will you and then shoot you and if still alive call EMS. Its not a fair game.
Tickets and warrants ages don’t matter anymore. Its the revenue and they are the collectors.
Warrants that could be a few years old matter, too, because they will come to your house with the armed SWAT Team and the battering ram..
My favorites are when these arse holes get the wrong address .
Better ones are when a patrol car racially profiles you driving a high end vehicle , they arrest you shortly because of skin color and it turns out the person in the car is a SAC in the local field office of the FBI
Fortunately, someone there was able to resolve the issue.
Bingo on all counts. Good on ya mate.
I looked it up after I posted to see if I got it right. He’s still around at 99 years old!
I knew it was William Daniels as answered above. No cheating….honest. I never watched the show but saw enough clips to recognize who it was. I first became aware of him in the Parallax View a conspiracy paranoia thriller that was quite memorable with Warren Beatty as the lead.
Daniels does have a very distinct voice.
Did Shelby sneak Kitt out for a joy ride?!
Is this the Bee?
Most everything in NYC is billed through the Dept of Finance. Property taxes, violations, fines and anything they can come up with to get our money.
Someone should check the current mileage on that car to make sure it didn’t do a speed of light midnight trip to NY.
Case dismissed!
Nobody hassles the Hoff!

Thanks, I didn’t know that, just thought it was funny to be finance instead of dmv.
Roboretardery will only increase in the years ahead unless class action suits are filed.
