A 12-year-old Georgia boy was left heartbroken after his therapy pig was allegedly killed by three ghoulish neighbors – who were found with the dead animal in aprons and gloves beside a boiling pot of water.
Garrett Cox, who has ADHD and autism, is now struggling to cope after Bootsy, his 400-pound emotional support pig, was savagely shot dead after wandering from her pen and off the family’s Hoschton property, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta, last week, according to multiple reports.
“I miss her so much,” the young boy told WSB-TV about the award-winning pig, while clutching the ribbons they had won at livestock competitions.
His parents, Kerrie and Matt, told the outlet they rushed out to find Bootsy after she escaped – then heard a gunshot and followed the chilling sound to a nearby home.
That’s when they found three people in aprons and gloves standing next to the dead hog and a pot of scalding hot water, leaving the horrified parents convinced the trio were trying to butcher the pig for food.
“There was a rope with blood on it beside her body,” Matt said, adding that Bootsy had been tied up.
Kerri said she confronted one of the cruel suspects, asking, “Why would you do this? You knew she was our pig,” but said the maniac responded with laughter, the outlet reported.

You know this how?
Well then
I guess that makes it an Emotional Support Animal.
The title calls it a ‘therapy’ pig.
I’ve seen what involvement with animals can do for young people with mental retardation - specifically horses. But it can be any animal. The interaction and the emotional involvement, the work of caring for them, can have many beneficial effects.
Many would agree with you. For me, if such an animal caused extensive property damage to other homes, and if that pet is ‘always’ getting loose, damages remaining unpaid for long after the event, these would be deciding factors.
There’s nothing in this story to indicate that anything like that was involved. The pig even had an ear tag.
Sounds like some bizarre “Fractured Fairy Tale.”

The perps were discovered hiding in a delivery of beach balls.
Why create this detailed alternative story out of thin air?
“Under the law in all states, livestock, including hogs, cannot be killed unless they pose an immediate hazard to health or property.”
Livestock are raised to be killed.
Actually, yes, it is, when the owner is known, and is the neighbor. I suppose in the case of a 400 pound pig, at least don't kill it immediately and plan to have it for supper.
I used to know a guy who kept 20 alpaca. He was a senior govt security person, who was retiring after 35 years on the job. He said wool sales were worth more than his federal pension. At least, as long as the alpaca kept killing the coyotes that tried hunting them.
Sometimes I get carried away with hypotheses.
It’s a handsome family.
Skunks are jard to handle, but can be sorta trained. My relative worked on poloce force and his partner carried a per skunk in his cop car. The baddies would freak out when they had to ride with it lol.
And well fed by the looks
Therapy pig says it all... Pathetic at best. Bacon is better.
In America, the Vietnamese Pot-bellied Pig is a pet.
In Viet Nam, it’s dinner.
Immigrants need to understand the change of venue, and act accordingly.
