Dwayne Johnson rocked a black mohair tailcoat and a bow tie paired with a matching pleated skirt as he walked down the 2026 Met Gala red carpet hand-in-hand with his wife, Lauren Hashian. When asked about the look, which was custom-made by designer Thom Browne, Johnson said it was in part inspired by Polynesian culture, in which the “most masculine men” wear skirts. The tailcoat featured over 350 meters of hand-pleated silk ribbons in a “skeletal composition,” according to the designer.

I was floor manager at a bar in Calgary in the late 80s, and Dwayne was working the front door. He whined about football and trying to make the cut etc and often would come find me to escort the unruly types out because of my abilities. The other front guy Brent didn’t like him, as he had to stand there and listen to the BS constantly. I knew then that I wouldn’t get along with the guy in a social setting and it seems I was right.

If someone dropped a bomb on the building during the Gala, I wouldn’t shed a tear.

Next time "The Rock" wants to seem controversial he needs to sport something more radical than an extended cummerbund.

It looks like an apron and he's the head chef.

Maybe he’ll pretend-swallow gasoline, and then spew it out in front of a cigarette lighter, so it looks like he’s breathing fire.

It looks like an apron and he's the head chef.

LOL - which goes perfectly with his old wrestling tagline.
Someone made an actual apron for it:

The most outrageous part about this story is that a pro-wrester is going to the Met Gala.

This mostly-retired wrestler has been a top-ten movie star for the last two decades and is worth around 800 million dollars. Most of the snots at the MetGala would be stepping up to get an invite to his place.
