The biggest problem I see is that early-on the video categorizes big government progressive statists such as Richard Nixon and George W. Bush as "small government"
However, all of that aside I do agree with the premise. Every bit of evidence I see tells me Gen Z does not embrace limited government. Gen Z are overwhelmingly government oriented.
And how could they not be this way? They probably know how to spell the word "c-o-n-s-t-i-t-u-t-i-o-n" but their schools never taught them anything of substance about the Constitution. Well, except that the Constitution is racist the schools taught Gen Z all about that one in their CRT 1619 classes. So the indoctrination has worked exceedingly well.
Gen Z are typically seen as entitled which is true and as you expect, the entitled want things like universal healthcare, even those Gen Z who are "seen" to be "on the right" desire universal healthcare. And that is just one item.
Universal healthcare means that the patient will have to wait 9-12 months before they get any medical procedure performed.
They will be dead before they get treatment.
America abandoned small government decades before Gen Z was born. Oh sure we’ve had politicians that TALKED about small government. But NOBODY actually tries to make the government smaller. If anything Gen Z is simply acknowledging that the government will never shrink so there’s no reason to talk about it.
. Every bit of evidence I see tells me Gen Z does not embrace limited government. Gen Z are overwhelmingly government oriented.
Tell the Coming Generation
Psa 78:1 A psalm of Asaph. O my people, listen to my instructions. Open your ears to what I am saying,
Psa 78:2 for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—
Psa 78:3 stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us.
Psa 78:4 We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about His power and His mighty wonders.
They don’t know what small government is
Just a reminder that MOST of Gen Z is under 22 years old. They haven’t really experienced life all that much.
And, they haven’t been brainwashed by their idiot teachers.
Why? Because propaganda works, that’s why.
What small government?
Ok, I am only partly joking.
Many in Gen-Z are terrified of making the wrong move because anything can "Ruin Your LIFE". They are experts at making mole hills into mountains and completely incapable of dealing with choice.
Going to a unfamiliar restaurant is a traumatic event because what if they can not find something they like? The concept of, "you stand up and leave" is not even on their radar.
I hear them stress over what brand of peanut butter to buy. It is peanut butter. Even the bad stuff is pretty ok with enough jelly and you just do not buy that brand in the future.
But this is why they are fine with big government telling them what to do. When you have no choices you do not have to fear making a mistake. You just do as told. And they are good at that. As long as the person telling them is an "expert" (or on TikToc) they will do and believe almost anything.
And that is what is going to make them dangerous.
too young and stupid to reject anything
They are raised for it.
Starts with day care, then public schools, then college - which nowadays is just daycare with alcohol, and to living with their parents again because they can’t afford to move out.
The extended “under the wing” time is what makes them want more of it later in life. People who spend the first 40 years in childhood expect it to continue.
It’s like those monkeys raised in zoos that are afraid to step on grass.
We don’t have a small government to reject.
There isn’t a bigger economic entity on earth than the US Federal government. Small? At best that’s a relative term when it comes to discussing that.
That simply doesn’t work unless you have a massive government to hide all the costs they think they don’t have to pay.
Gen Z. Silver spooners who think EVERYTHING should be free and they should not waste their time working for a living. The have the same “american dream” that the illegal aliens have.
LBJ-Nixon did the most to destroy small government, local government. Everything since then has been trying to figure out how to adapt and use why LBJ-Nixon started.
You betcha.
But it is ironic, because Gen Z has been sold down the river into debt slavery by prior generations overspending, government waste and fraud. Not to mention the welfare, social security and medicare burdens they will stagger under. They ought to be the most hostile to reliance on government because that's the mindset that will place a crushing financial and spiritual burden on them their entire lives.
Every generation since the dawn of the 20th century has rejected small government.
