A Florida mayor jailed nearly two years ago for a drunk-driving crash is reportedly back behind bars after allegedly flunking a drug test while on probation.
Teresa Heitmann, the mayor of Naples, was arrested Monday night for violating her probation after testing positive for cannabinoids, the main compound found in marijuana, during a court-mandated drug test on March 26, according to police records obtained by Gulf Coast News and WINK.
The 62-year-old – on probation for an August 2024 DUI bust – was hit with unlawful possession or use of cannabinoids.
“We are aware of the situation involving Mayor Teresa Heitmann,” a Naples spokesperson told The Post in a statement, adding that the city’s vice mayor will step in during Heitmann’s absence.
“The Naples residents and visitors can be assured that the City Council, administration, and staff remain dedicated to serving our community.”

I too lived in Naples many years ago, probably long before you. In essence, the city’s political offices tend to be held by rich retirees looking for a diversion, locals hoping to advance through politics, and a reformer or two genuinely interested in good government. This combination sometimes goes sour, as a city official breaks bad or the whole city government goes off the rails.

Right? I was just in Naples last Saturday at the Sea Monkey bar. Quite a lovely town if you are filthy rich.
The fishing and especially the diving are better in the Atlantic Ocean than the Gulf. Plus you have the Gulf Stream on the east coast.

My wife and I are pretty partial toward Longboat Key. In my view, Siesta Key is very overrated, overrun with tourists.
