VATICAN CITY — In an escalation of the public feud between the U.S. president and the supreme pontiff of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV shared an AI-generated photo of himself dressed as Donald Trump.
After President Trump shared a controversial AI-generated image of himself with overt religious imagery on the heels of bashing the pope, the pontiff retaliated by releasing his own image depicting himself with a distinctly Trump-like appearance and sitting in the Oval Office. Critics immediately bashed the image as being blasphemous.
"This image is highly offensive," one social media user said. "For the pope to blatantly portray himself as President Trump is truly beyond what is acceptable. I'm shocked that the pope would do such a thing. Outrageous."
The image only served to intensify what had already become a heated situation between the two prominent figures, with Trump vowing to retaliate. "My followers will not stand for this disrespect," Trump told reporters. "It's one of my commandments. There shall be no other Trumps before me. Everyone knows this. The pope is out of line here, and there will be consequences. We're already having discussions about regime change in Vatican City, believe me."
At publishing time, Pope Leo XIV had also posted a photo of himself as a hobbit from The Lord of the Rings, prompting an aide to remove the ChatGPT app from the pontiff's phone.
Yep, not nearly done. This is a rich and fertile field.
“Even if this were real and not satire it wouldn’t be as blasphemous as President Trump being depicted as Jesus. Neither the Pope or Trump are God. Jesus is God.”
True, but . . . I finally saw the picture and I can’t say it depicts Trump as Jesus.
It’s much ado over nothing.
The other funny part is that almost everybody gets the joke right off.
This ain’t your grandmothers’ Pope and Holy See !!!
Has the modern day Holy See brushed tradional devout Catholics to the side as it expands its embrace of leftist secularism?
Prove the AI was depicting him as Jesus.
I don't begrudge Trump clapping back at the Holy Father. As many of you know, I'm a devout Catholic ready to defend the Faith at the drop of a hat. But the Holy Father is not above criticism (as is not Trump) and Catholic laity have a canonical right to question their leaders if appropriate. In my opinion, Pope Leo went way out of his lane in his comments into the explicitly political. Maybe because he is an American and we have a tradition of getting political, but still he was out of line.
The image, as everyone one agrees, was Trump's (attempted) "humorous" retort to Leo's ill-considered remarks. But in depicting himself as Jesus (and only a willfully blind person could deny it) was also a bridge too far and should be called what it is: blasphemy.
What a Kroc.
Wearing a Jesus-like robe, healing the sick with a touch of his hand, people around him looking up to pray to him with heaven in the background? Sure, that's not depicting Trump as Jesus.
What was Jesus’ robe, will you describe it?
You see what you want to see in that picture.
That’s an awesome twist on it.
that’s FU FUnny right there.
Eh, everyone should lighten up.
Ooops, The Bee. They got me.
I still believe the last Pope was the world’s first Islamic Pope and Leo is the world’s second Islamic Pope.
I want to see if the alleged drawing of Jesus actually looks like Jesus.
Any one have a link to the alleged original JESUS drawing?
Trump says he thought it was a Red Cross drawing.
Thanks.
Don't play games. You can see that for yourself. Trump is depicted as wearing garments that Jesus is traditionally depicted as wearing.
PaPa should hanging with the ‘Schroom’
Gang sharing a Spliff with OBammy !

This is Really getting worse.
