This man is rather old to be shooting animals just for fun.

There are other ways to deter a bird from attacking your chicken.

A rooster will usually do the trick. And your chickens will be happier.

Grow up fool!

What an injustice. A man has a right to protect his livestock. And as for the fink that ratted him—Snitches get stiches, I hope.

Roosters never stopped chicken hawks back in the 1960s.

He does not have the right to kill a bald eagle.

If it's destroying your property, why not?

Are the Feds offering compensation for his destroyed chickens?

If not, t's an illegal conversion of private property to public use without compensation.

They aren’t endangered... Shooting the odd one every now and then should be acceptable. Especially if you have cats or small children in your yard.

While what you say sounds reasonable, it is not legal

If he’d shot a human, he’d certainly be let out on a “no bond” bail.

I don’t know if they were technically endangered but while DDT was being used and for awhile following, their numbers were few. It was rare to see one. Now they are numerous any where there is a body of water and are a nuisance. There should be limited hunting on them.

Wouldn't his deceased chickens be eligible for a tax write off assuming he is running a business or can he itemize the loss for losing a a back yard chicken or 2.

He needs to get a dog or better yet, two, or he will have to shoot everything in sight and trap things constantly to protect chickens. A good dog will deter everything, even eagles and annoying human theives.

I was recently castigated for pointing out the stabilizing effects of a rooster on a flock. Sexist, I was informed...

while DDT was being used

DDT was blamed for their fewer numbers, but the truth is their numbers were declining before DDT, mostly due to habitat encroachment as well as poisoning and shooting for livestock protection. The greens used that as a pretext to stop the use of DDT. The result was massive human deaths from malaria.
