President Donald Trump’s top official overseeing disaster response insists he was once teleported to a Georgia Waffle House.
Gregg Phillips, appointed in December to head the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Office of Response and Recovery, made the claim during a January 2025 episode of the podcast Onward, CNN reported on Friday in a deep-dive profile of the top official.
“Teleporting is no fun,” Phillips said on the podcast, co-hosted by conservative activist Catherine Engelbrecht. “It was real.”
Phillips, a longtime conservative activist who repeatedly shared conspiracy theories on social media before being appointed to a top FEMA position, described an incident in which he said he teleported miles across Georgia.
“I was with my boys one time, and I was telling them I was gonna go to Waffle House and get Waffle House,” he said. “And I ended up at a Waffle House – this was in Georgia, and I end up at a Waffle House like 50 miles away from where I was.”

I’d like to know how that happened, because I have enjoyed stopping at the Waffle House while on the road but haven’t been to one in many years because I don’t travel where they are anymore and the nearest one is 300 miles away. Teleporting would be preferable to a ten-hour round trip.

I wish I could be teleported to a Waffle House. There’s none in New York State. I’d love to have breakfast at one, but I’m not driving to Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Delaware.
If I remember correctly, he was heavily involved in trying to prove election rigging/interference in 2020. He invited a bunch of noob conservative influencers to something called “the Pit” - a conference to share info. Afterwards some of the participants said it seemed he knew nothing and was just trying to learn what they all new - a total bust. Some of the original “We the media/Badlands” people took part.
In my twenties I quite often teleported to a Waffle House and sometimes to other all night dining establishments.
That was in the ‘70s and back then we called it “blackout drunk.”
I don’t know why, we just made up names for things then.
So glad I quit all that ‘teleporting’ in the early ‘80s.
I know some people who ended up in much worse places than a Waffle House.

At the least, it must be a portal to another dimension, given the people you meet there.
Everyone knows that Trump will only teleport to a place with "Trump" emblazoned across the rooftop.
This just proves how bad the left is at creating memes.

But, I also know it’s sometimes better to keep uncommon beliefs to oneself, especially when they have nothing to do with my employment.
Waffle Houses often are a disaster, so he’s probably right for the job.

OMG, this is nothing more than a tall tale told for entertainment. A story told by an adult for entertainment, especially told when kids are around or people to stupid to understand what it is, commonly called a yarn. Like a roll of yarn it just unravels into whatever you want.
