I'm surprised it's been that long since an US Submarine has sunk an enemy ship using a torpedo. You wonder what the Captain and crew of that submarine were thinking when they finally fired a torpedo in a real war versus in training.

Imagine being a navy officer who had to sit through years and years of gay race communist training and trans-affirming e-modules and then a dude who benches 315 shows up and says “fuck it man, you can fire the torpedoes” and it’s now all worth it. It must have been beautiful.

I would think they shoot them fairly often, albeit practice torpedoes.
The amount of cackling and raucous laughter that probably went on as they sent an extremely overkill torpedo at the small ship was probably so bad it would of been hard to see through the eyes watering up.
I suspect this was a message being sent as the USN is loathe to reveal anything regarding submarine capabilities (e.g. I have a shellback card with the Longitude marked "Classified"). In the past, in a situation like this, the Navy has usually sent an aircraft in for the kill rather than have the sub do it.

Iranian sailors. Having been a young sailor (enlisted at 17) on the Cuban Missile Crisis blockade, I can feel for the enemy, and hope for the survival of many. With the ship gone, they're out of the fight.

Boomers are ballistic missile subs. Their torpedoes are for defensive use if a "hole in the water" silence is compromised.
