The band also included a pro-Palestinian song in the group of six new songs, titled “The Tears of Things,” ripping Israel for putting violent Hamas terrorists “into a cage” and hinting that the band thinks Palestinian “rage” is justified. “If you put a man into a cage and rattle it long enough,” Bono sings, “A man becomes the kind of rage that cannot be locked up.”
Irish rockers U2 have released a short album on Ash Wednesday titled Days of Ash, with a track celebrating radical anti-ICE activist Renee Good and ripping Trump supporters as “the people of the lie.”
The song, “American Obituary,” is dedicated to Good, who was shot in January by ICE agents after she tried to use her SUV to run one officer over on January 7 in Minneapolis.
The band begins the song claiming that Good was crushed “like a coffee cup” and goes on to exclaim that “Renee Good born to die free.”
“American mother of three,” Bono sings on, “Seventh day January / A bullet for each child, you see.”
He next memorializes Good, singing, “Three bullets blast, three babies kissed / Renee the domestic terrorist???”
Bono then claims that Donald Trump and those who support ICE are “the people of the lie.”
“What you can’t kill can’t die,” he sings, with ever-so-subtle imagery of a crucifix displayed at this point in the lyric video. “America will rise / Against the people of the lie,” he continues.
Bono told the U2 fanzine Propaganda that he was influenced by Bob Dylan with the anti-police song. “The rhythm of the lyric is a nod to one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs, ‘It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding),’

LAKEN HOPE RILEY OBITUARY- A real American obituary.
If Laken was my daughter, this would be sent to U2, along with a picture of her in death, her face unrecognizable).
Laken Hope Riley passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the age of 22 years old. She was born in Marietta, GA to Allyson Phillips, of Woodstock, and William Jason Riley, of Buford, on January 10, 2002.
Laken loved nursing and caring for others, this passion led her to attend the University of Georgia and then later begin a nursing program at the Augusta Medical Colleges campus in Athens. She was a member of the AXO Sorority at the University of Georgia and loved all of her Sisters and friends. Laken was an active part of AXO and was a kindhearted addition to the Sorority. Lakens adoration for caring went beyond her goal of becoming a nurse and allowed her to be an extraordinary nanny for two young children. Her smile was extremely infectious, and she spread joy to others everywhere she went.
She was devoted to serving the Lord. She was always involved with church, Woodstock City Church and Watkinsville First Baptist Church. Her love for spreading Gods word led her to attend mission trips through the church. Her love for the Lord was exemplified in every aspect of her life.
Laken was an amazing daughter, sister, friend and an overall extraordinary person. She will be missed every day, but we promise to honor her life moving forward in a very big way.
Laken is preceded in death by her grandfather, Bill Riley, and her aunt, Jennifer.
She is survived by her Mother Allyson Phillips; Father John Phillips; Father, Jason Riley; sisters, Lauren Phillps and Kaley Riley; brother, Jackson Riley; maternal grandparents, Gale and Brooks Blair; paternal grandmother, Brenda Riley, as well as Terry and Mary Phillips.
A visitation will be held at Woodstock City Church from 12:00 pm 2:00 pm on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Services to honor the life of Laken Hope Riley will be Friday, March 1, 2024 beginning at 2:00 pm at Woodstock City Church with pastor, Samer Massad, officiating.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind gestures of love during this difficult time. Poole Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Woodstock is in charge of arrangements. www.poolefuneralhome.net
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Lakens Gofundme account with all proceeds going towards starting the Laken Hope Riley foundation which will be used to drive homicide awareness and safety for women: https://gofund.me/7d61b636
Boner speaks. Who cares?
Ireland was officially neutral in WW2. However thousands of Irish citizens joined the British Army and Navy and RAF. Irish intelligence cooperated with the Brits quietly. While some Irish did support Hitler (as did some Brits and Americans) Ireland’s neutral policies quietly leaned to the Allies.
Also, one can hardly blame Ireland for not wanting to embrace the Brits.
Let Bono house these illegal alien rapists in his house.
U2 are not Americans
They can go back to their own country and see what they can do there, because whatever it’s been has not been impressive
Wanna talk about a big lie Bono?
Ireland has sunk ever since it accepted abortion. We, on the other hand, have taken it out of our constitution
Punks
Champagne socialist says what? When Jan 6 bothers them more than Oct 7, you know they are completely brainwashed.
Bono has as much said that America’s greatest gift to the third world is that it proved that the free market economy works. A rising tide DOES lift all boats.
And now that we have the greatest free-market economist ever to grace the White House, he shows his hypocrisy.
You’re just a band , Bozo ,LOL
F’ em.
What book are you referencing. Sounds interesting.
U2 stopped being relevant in the late 80s.
These four tax dodgers bore me to no end these days.
How they view the world is so childlike.
They are the thing, the it, the only. Their perspective is it. Their actions are what is needed. They can do what they want because they are.
And if you aren’t of the body? You are a Nazi, a victimizer, evil and not allowed to exist.
How dare you kill one of theirs. It’s for them to do the killing.
Not quite as forgettable as Springsteen’s clunker, but close.
U2? That’s a funny way to spell ‘assholes’.
Leftists are addicted to rage. In their narcissism, they believe their self-righteous anger is justified, and they are saving the world.
Back in the mid 1990’s I was doing a lot of exorcisms and spirit releasement work. Through this I met many of the other people doing this work.
Of the 5 people I knew doing this work in the 1990’s, all were dead by 2005. All became popular after writing books and doing lectures. Popularity leads to pride, and pride leads to being vulnerable. Once vulnerable, they were stung.
By stung, I mean that a dark spirit moved into their soul and attacked them, bringing illness and death.
I purposely never wrote a book due to this vulnerability. If I’m lecturing and I feel people trying to give me their will, it feels like spiders crawling on my skin. Thus, I became a recluse on my secluded farm for many years.
Peck was a psychiatrist, minister, and successful author. He lived in western Connecticut, just north of I-84, a highway I traveled frequently on my way to Hartford and Boston.
They are on the wrong side of history. I cannot believe I actually liked this band at one time.
Scott Peck, a psychiatrist, minister and successful author wrote many excellent books. His first and most popular was “The Road Less Traveled.”
Later he wrote “People of the Lie: The Hope for Healing Human Evil” in 1983. His last book, “Glimpses of the Devil: A Psychiatrist’s Personal Accounts of Possession, Exorcism, and Redemption” was published in 2005, the year he died.
