DNA testing in Nancy Guthrie case yields no database match
Fox News ^ | February 17, 2026 | Fox News

Posted on 02/17/2026 1:14:45 PM PST by CedarDave

The unknown male DNA profile on a glove found two miles from the home of Nancy Guthrie has been run through the FBI’s DNA database – and did not result in any hits, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News chief correspondent Jonathan Hunt in an interview on Tuesday.

DNA recovered from Guthrie's home also did not match records in the FBI database, Nanos said. The sheriff confirmed that the DNA on the glove was different from the DNA found inside the home.

The FBI confirmed the news to Fox News Digital on Tuesday.

The sheriff's department later provided clarity, writing on X: “The DNA that was submitted to CODIS was from the set of gloves found 2 miles away.

“It did not trigger a match in CODIS & did not match DNA found at the property,” it said. “The DNA found at the property is being analyzed & further testing needs to be done as part of the investigation.”

Link is from a Fox News update list; likely to change with additional information.

Also, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos cleared Nancy Guthrie's family as suspects in her disappearance case, calling them "victims" who have been cooperative. Authorities still have no suspects or persons of interest though Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said more law enforcement operations are expected in the coming days.

For us that are out in the field performing construction or other types of outdoor work, we put trash including nitrile work gloves in the back of our pickups and drive home. They are lightweight and are easily blown out if not secured in tied trash bags. No doubt I’ve lost some that way over the years of outdoor job work.

This idea of the gloves being a source of DNA was a very low probability long-short; indeed, 16 other similar gloves were reportedly found in the area.

This was indeed a LOOOONG shot. They’ll have to keep digging. And while they are at it, the news needs to stop covering this 24/7 especially with no substantive updates.

Great job bypassing the world class DNA lab at Quantico sheriff dipshit.

If it had gone there at least we would have the peace of mind to know that it went to the best facility available.......now, we’ll never know will we?

There are still ways. Might get a partial hit as a lead.

Anyone who lives within 100 miles of the Mexican border in a no or low-density neighborhood better be at least very well armed and be surrounded by walls and gates on the property. She was 60 miles from Mexico. A lot of those people have no idea how much evil is so close to them. A gated community is irrelevant there. Total false sense of security.

Visited a friend in Tucson around 1980 - we decided not to go down to Nogales, too dangerous even back then.

That’s the subject everyone is ignoring.🐘

I wouldn’t put it past law enforcement or the media or some internet crazy planting the gloves in the first place.

Body, perps, and best evidence is down Mexico way.

Kidnapping went perfectly until they saw kidnapping for ransom was a no-go in the USA, even if Tuscon is just barely sovereign American soil.

She died during or shortly after the abduction. The kidnappers didn’t think the process through. She was an old lady in questionable health and on medications. A very poor choice for surviving an abduction.

Went to Nogales several times in the 80’s. No problem.

Of course we stayed on the main street.
