This sexually transmitted fungus causes ringworm in some very unfortunate places — and there’s an outbreak

VD for Valentine’s Day?

In case you needed a reason to stay celibate this weekend, there’s a sexually transmitted fungus making the rounds and leaving its mark.

Experts say the public should be aware of the nation’s “largest known outbreak” of Trichophyton mentagrophytes genotype VII.

Known as TMVII, the nasty business is the only known fungal-based sexually transmitted infection.

Cases of TMVII have been on the rise in Europe for the past several years, especially among men who have sex with men.

In 2024, an NYC man became the first reported US case of TMVII, and it seems the icky itch has now made its way to the Midwest.

Since the STI was detected in Minnesota in July 2025, the state has reported 13 confirmed and 27 suspected cases of TMVII.

“Patients concerned they might have a rash consistent with TMVII, particularly if they have had recent sexual contact with others with a rash, should visit an STI clinic for evaluation and treatment,” the Minnesota Department of Health said in a statement.

“Overall risk to the public is low, however, men who have sex with men, persons using anonymous apps and persons with a history of previous STI infections may be at higher risk,”

Interesting that the author seems to think there are only two options, town bicycle or monk.

The author may be a fag, which would explain this problem. Those of us in sane and stable marriages need not be celibate, yet have essentially zero chance of getting this or any other form of VD.

Fungal infections are notoriously difficult to kill, especially in the vulnerable.
One wonders if a maternal TMVII infection would be transmitted to babies.
There are otherwise important cultures transmitted at birth.
To my knowledge there is no banking of skin flora to interdict the consequences of such an antibiotic treatment.
My wife is an advanced practice NICU nurse. I’m forwarding this to her, thank you.

From the NY Post “about the author”:

Reda Wigle is an astrology writer at the New York Post.

Background
Reda routinely researches the birth charts of celebrities and other strangers. A Taurus, middle child and graduate of the University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop, she believes in ghosts, butter and redemption Reda’s knowledge of pop culture is largely owed to an adolescence spent feigning mono and mainlining VH1’S “Behind the Music.”

Not a fag ... also probably not entirely sane.

https://biologyinsights.com/why-is-fungus-so-hard-to-kill-the-biological-reasons/

Fungi are a diverse kingdom of organisms found ubiquitously in various environments, from soil and water to living organisms. They are distinct from plants and animals, occupying their own biological classification. While many fungi are beneficial or harmless, some can cause infections in humans, posing unique challenges due to their inherent resilience. This article explores the biological reasons behind the remarkable toughness of fungi and the difficulties encountered in eliminating them.

Bi-sexual males, and homosuxualls have one policy, find a partner and plug it. Fun and free sex rule the days and night.

The average homosexual male has hundreds of partners per year, and not all are male.

It is not my distinction, it is one society and prolific sex addicts place on what they call a normal range.

On of my grandsons has experienced both, a boyfriend and a long term GF. I just call them Omni-sexuals.

“You have your needs I have mine” is the culture.

It comes from the lack of shame, and body count is a thing for the younger people.

And here you thought the other gift the gays are giving out “Monkey Pocks” was bad, now you get a side of fungus Trichophyton mentagrophytes genotype VII, (TMVII) with that.

Oh, for grins and giggles the first prize winner was a man in NYC.....
