Douglas bought the bread on September 22, 2025, at the Walmart store located at 1575 Space Center Drive in Colorado Springs, per the lawsuit.
The loaf of MarketSide-branded bread allegedly had a 'sell-by' label placed directly over its preparation instructions.
This included the detail that the bread was actually a 'take and bake' product, rather than ready-to-eat.
A Colorado man sued Walmart after he claimed to suffer 'severe' injuries from eating raw bake-to-eat bread that allegedly expanded in his stomach.
Jordan T. Douglas, of El Paso County, said he spent three days at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central after ingesting the bread from the bog box retailer.
Douglas filed a personal injury lawsuit on Tuesday in district court, alleging the bread sent him rushing to the hospital after repeatedly vomiting.
He claimed medical imaging showed a 'gastrointestinal obstruction caused by the expansion of uncooked dough', per the complaint obtained by Courthouse News.
He also alleged Walmart obscured the product's preparation instructions with a 'sell-by' label.
As a result, Douglas said he believed the bread was 'substantially baked' and already safe to consume.
He ate the loaf during his lunch break but soon developed 'severe abdominal pain and related symptoms.'
Douglas accused Walmart of 'altering product packaging' in a way that created an 'unreasonable risk of harm to customers.' He is seeking compensatory damages.

"she put it on toast and ate it".
😀
Wouldn’t the TASTE of the uncooked bread ingredients be horrible? Wouldn’t that give this genius a clue?
He might have a case if he kept the packaging and can prove it. Someone at Wal-Mart covered up product information with another label.
My God are people stupid. Public schools did it again.
Exactly! Obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed. That or his is still a mommy titty baby who was never made to do aanything.
My father during wwii ate the uncooked expandable oatmeal serving disks that were part of k rations. Granted he was 17 .
But he had a belly ache and was sick.
Humans unlike rats, can vomit.
Toss it out and disbar the ambulance chaser.
“Crack don’t smoke itself!”
Progressive Insurance is running an ad with AI-generated video. At the bottom of the screen it says something like, “AI images. Do not attempt”.
I remember years ago on the tv series “Emergency” where they were called to a case like this.
Maybe in order to de-radicalize and de-stupidify our younger generation, we should make everybody watch repeats.
“Dummy’s tummy got an ache, he ate bread he did not bake.”
That’s because he was already baked from smoking weed and had the munchies!
A Colorado man a stoner state showing it’s best.
I remember seeing a “Rescue” type TV show in the late 1970s or early 1980s in which some man did this.
My son’s dog ,a Bernedoodle, will eat anything and will jump up and grab food off the kitchen counter. About 2 years ago he ate a ball of pizza dough and off to the vet he went. They had to induce vomiting so the dough wouldn’t expand.
Everyone now knows not to leave anything that he can reach.
I've identified the problem.
Those that do not LEARN from history are doomed to repeatit.
Yes!! I think it was a kid and his mother let him eat raw dough.
I loved watching that show, when I was little—my Aunt got me hooked.
I also recall one where botulism death from an old tomato sauce type thing, it was poured down the drain at a fair/farmers market type setting.
My Aunt also got me hooked on Kojak, good television. :)
EXCELLANT!
(Is my wine fermented enough?)

May I suggest it was placed next to THIS product?
Phrases: You never know what you’re going to get.
Years ago, this was one the episode plot lines in the series “Emergency” (1972-’79). I believe that the glutton had wolfed down raisin bread dough, and they had a scene of him lying down in the ER with a swollen belly.
