Trump Calls for $1.5 Trillion to Build a ‘Dream Military’ — A 50% Increase from Previous Proposal

President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for a staggering 50% increase to the previously proposed military budget to bring the total up to $1.5 trillion.

In the Wednesday afternoon Truth Social post, Trump claimed the budget increase was “for the good of our country,” citing “very troubled and dangerous times”:

After long and difficult negotiations with Senators, Congressmen, Secretaries, and other Political Representatives, I have determined that, for the Good of our Country, especially in these very troubled and dangerous times, our Military Budget for the year 2027 should not be $1 Trillion Dollars, but rather $1.5 Trillion Dollars. This will allow us to build the “Dream Military” that we have long been entitled to and, more importantly, that will keep us SAFE and SECURE, regardless of foe.

Further down the post, the president said the U.S. government will be able to make such a huge increase due to additional revenue supposedly brought in from his sweeping tariffs:

If it weren’t for the tremendous numbers being produced by Tariffs from other Countries, many of which, in the past, have “ripped off” the United States at levels never seen before, I would stay at the $1 Trillion Dollar number but, because of Tariffs, and the tremendous Income that they bring, amounts being generated, that would have been unthinkable in the past (especially just one year ago during the Sleepy Joe Biden Administration, the Worst President in the History of our Country!), we are able to easily hit the $1.5 Trillion Dollar number while, at the same time, producing an unparalleled Military Force, and having the ability to, at the same time, pay down Debt, and likewise, pay a substantial Dividend to moderate income Patriots within our Country!

$500 billion buys a lot of rations.

I guess that’s where our peace dividend is going.

I'm against this. I think there's one possibility that Trump made a deal with the DS—so now he's for expanding the MIC.

As a result, Trump gets to be the President this time around.

That’s a delusional number.

We are going bankrupt. Numbers matter.

Trump just says whatever pops into his head.

I have two bags of the old LRRP rations, I used to have some C-ration boxes full, but I threw them out recently because some cans leaked.

"It’s only 500 billion. That’s, what 3 daycares?"

That's only 5 of Joe Biden's payments to Ukraine.

Charles Mayo, from West Virginia..dude would disappear into the jungle and come back with leaves and stems, roots from plants

That's a real skill because 90% of wild vegetation is toxic to humans. In comparison, 90% of wild animals are not only edible, but smoked over a camp fire with a little garlic and butter, and with the squaws far off gathering fruit and berries for dessert, heavenly divine.

The “ham and limas” (ham and lima beans) meal in particular was known to be universally disliked by US troops during the Vietnam War, making it a point of common reference in veteran discussions.

My dad was a China Marine, and he told me about that one...except he liked it. He said you could trade something else for two of those, lol.

But the first generation of MRE's that came out...holy crap were those awful. Ham and Chicken Loaf, are you kidding me?? The dehydrated ones were awful too unless you were fortunate enough to have time to add water in a canteen cup and were lucky enough to have a heat tab, which weren't standard in the early MRE's.

You consider even unmanned sites like a little dog cemetery and/or other cemeteries a “military base” and think that 54 of your “800 military bases” are in Guam alone, that we have 34 “military bases” in Puerto Rico, 120 in Japan as the original source did for this nonsense?

Is that really how we talk and think about military bases?

Hegseth didn’t find squat. Neither did the little Musk minions, who may have found record discrepancies that warrant an investigation, but nothing approaching admissible evidence of a crime.
