In this documentary, we dive into the true story of Vlad III Dracula, better known as Vlad the Impaler – the 15th‑century prince who turned a small, fragile principality into a nightmare for the Ottoman Empire. From his childhood as an Ottoman hostage to the infamous Forest of the Impaled that made Sultan Mehmed II turn back in fear, this is the brutal, human story behind the legend.
This video covers:
Vlad’s birth and early life in Transylvania and Wallachia His years as a political hostage in the Ottoman Empire The murders of his father and brother and his burning desire for revenge How he seized power and unleashed a reign of terror on the boyars Impalement, propaganda, and the golden cup that no one dared steal His war against Mehmed II: scorched earth and the Night Attack at Târgoviște The 20,000 bodies on stakes that shocked the world His fall, mysterious death, and empty grave How Bram Stoker borrowed his name for Count Dracula – and how the fiction differs from reality If you learned something new, hit like, subscribe to History Without Borders, and tell us in the comments:

Impalement
This is a great movie idea. I want to see that gory forest on the big screen.
Deus Vult.
He’s a hero in his homeland.
Sitting in a college history class long ago, I remember the prof brought in a Romanian pro who spoke on Vlad for an hour.
I remember the catch in my chest, and the feeling of happening to be in the front row.
People tore out of class that day.
What you did there, I 👀 it.
👍🏻
I would watch that.
He was raised by Muslims since the time of childhood. Everything he did, he likely learned from them. He was trying to preserve his kingdom from them.
👍🏻
Did he have a flag? Start flying that and watch the progressive love on the Gadsden flag.
Democrats are far more evil and worse than the Jihadi Islamist.
At least Muslims don’t abort their babies or groom their children into becoming transvestites.
Putin, Vlad the Inhaler !
That Video cheered Me Up!
Well worth repeating:
Vlad knew how to deal with Muslims...
havent read the thread yet- but he used to impale people alive on long poles and set them up in forests so that invading armies would have to ride through and see and hear the dying people, smell the decay, etc- to instill fear in the enemy-
He was a really brutal dude
There's this ancient flag of Romania
But I like this one cited by several sites much better
Yes.
He was not really that bad overall.
One would rather call him brave.
He fought the Ottomans and once, when the whole Turkish army was approaching, he impaled all captive Turks, creating forest of impaled bodies.
It worked!!!
Dracula means small dragon in Romanian, his father had dragon as coat of arms, he was then called dragon Jr., nothing there either.
From the impaling episode, he was also called Vlad Impaler.
It was very dangerous time during Vlad’s reign, so being strongman kept in alive.
Big time.
True.
