Government ministers say that “live boiling is not an acceptable killing method” for crustaceans and alternative guidance will soon be published in the Animal Welfare Strategy.......

Boiling lobsters while they are alive and conscious will be banned in a bid to improve animal welfare in England.

Government ministers say that “live boiling is not an acceptable killing method” for crustaceans and alternative guidance will soon be published. It forms part of the Government’s long-awaited Animal Welfare Strategy which sets out a raft of policies to improve the lives of pets and animals on farms and in the wild.

Boiling lobsters alive is already illegal in Switzerland, Norway and New Zealand, and animal welfare charities say that stunning lobsters with an electric gun or chilling them in cold air or ice before boiling them is more humane.

Ben Sturgeon, chief executive of the charity Crustacean Compassion, welcomed the plans, saying: “When live, conscious animals are placed into boiling water, they endure several minutes of excruciating pain. This is torture and completely avoidable. Humane alternatives, like electrical stunning, are readily available.”

A knife between the head and the body shells takes care of business quickly. Then dump them in the water.

Lobsters are bugs.

I grew up with friends of who had lobster pots. The whole allure of lobster as a “treat” wore out early in my life.

Boiling lobsters bad ...raping little girls OK...stabbing innocents if one yells Allah Akbar OK...
Clearly English lawmakers have been taken over by the Muslims...they don’t believe in torturing something unless it is an infidel...then it’s halal...

What about we humans, in the slowly increasing heat of the frog pot?

A lawsuit is why. Probes popped but the turkey was still raw, people didn’t care or use common sense and dove in.

If it popped it was done and that was all they knew to use and not double check it with an instant probe or an adult with 2 brain cells to rub together.

Some kids got sick, it was linked to the Turkey, large undisclosed amounts of money changed hands and now we are all denied the quick reference pop-ups.

Morons. Complaints by those who have never cooked a sea bug.

If all you do (and no cook does this) is drop them into a big pot, it will take a while to die.

That is not how it is done — except in the imaginations of the liberals who don’t know how to do anything.

You drop the bugs headfirst into boiling water — kills within seconds.

I’m sure that if those folks preventing lobsters from screaming while being killed could hear the screams of thousands of babies being slaughtered every day abortion might be history.

Lots of peer reviewed research says that plants feel and communicate. Yet no one complains about how they are eaten alive and/or killed by heating.

Wait'll they ban beer.

You might read The Flying Inn, by G. K. Chesterton. Written over 100 years ago, but looks more like coming true each day.

Dungeness crab is always best cooked in the seawater they were captured in.

“Humane alternatives, like electrical stunning, are readily available.” I don’t want my lobster electrically stunned I want it cooked. Put ‘em in the freezer for 45 minutes before hand.

Funny how so many of those old jingles stay with you but I can’t even recall an ad I’ve seen recently.

“live boiling is not an acceptable killing method”

I always thought it was a cooking method.   So now a chef is supposed to pith a lobster?   Next we will learn that poking a lobster between the eyes is inhumane.
