A disbanded court in Las Vegas may come back to life as lawmakers look to attract visitors to revive Sin City tourism.
Vegas tourism has continued to decline, with just over 3 million visitors in September, an 8.8% decrease from the same time last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCA).
A specialized court was created in 2022 to handle offenses such as petty theft, assault, drug violations and loitering, with penalties including banning offenders from the Strip for a year.
The Resort Corridor Court, however, was disbanded less than two years later after judges raised concerns about its legality.
Supporters of the unique court — mainly casino and resort owners — have backed an amendment to Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo’s new crime package, The Associated Press reported.
The Resort Corridor Court was the first and only of its kind — an entity just for crime outside tourist hot spots, AP said.
Nevada Resort Association president Virginia Valentine told the outlet the move to revive it is necessary.
"It’s important for the safety of our guests and for our employees in the workplace," said Valentine.

I’m no expert on tourism but I remember seeing “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” commercials every where and now I see nothing. There used to be shows and movies about how fun Vegas is but now you don’t see much of that either
If you want people to go you need to sell them on Vegas being a wild party that you can’t replicate going to an Indian casino or betting on your phone.
Also the Saudis cranked up the prices on everything (or so I’ve been told) which sucks because I liked those cheap all you can Buffets
The need to talk about this says, “Don’t go there”. I haven’t been since 1980. Listened to Hubie Blake (1887-1983) in a little bar off the main strip. Less than 10 people in the place, magical.
Wiki- “Blake’s musical training began when he was four or five. While out shopping with his mother, he wandered into a music store, climbed onto the bench of an organ, and started “foolin’ around”. When his mother found him, the store manager told her: “The child is a genius! It would be criminal to deprive him of the chance to make use of such a sublime, God-given talent.” The Blakes purchased a pump organ for US$75.00, making payments of 25 cents a week. When Blake was seven, he received music lessons from a neighbor, Margaret Marshall, an organist for the Methodist church.[8] At age 15, without his parents’ knowledge, he began playing piano at Aggie Shelton’s Baltimore bordello.”
So right now criminal offenders are allowed on the Strip?
Bandaids won’t fix Vegas. They need to bring back the mob run casinos which apparently understand how to give customers a good deal.
Loosen up those slots. The machines, I mean.<>
In DFW you see ads for the resorts in Oklahoma.
Was in Lost Wages thrice - a wedding, golf, visiting family. Three times too many.
Free Parking is one concept that made America [and LV] GREAT!.
I understand that LV parking is not so free these days.
You can’t even get a 20 dollar hooker
Las Vegas went to hell when mafia lost control and politicians took over.
yours:
“Las Vegas went to hell when mafia lost control and politicians took over.}
mine:
yes, that actually would seem to work out, chronologically
and the integrity level went down in the process
“..what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas..
The chancre you get goes with you wherever you go.
One used to be able to occasionlly catch acts like that in Vegas. I saw the Goofers, a group active in the mid 1950s, perform in a bar on the Strip in 1980. Some years later, I saw Bobby Curtola, who had a hit with Fortune Teller in the early months of 1962 (not to be confused with Benny Spellman's Fortune Teller which was riding the charts at the same time). But it was no longer 1962, and he now had a small audiene in a small bar.
Throw in a few Hells Angels.
Or they could stop ripping people off.
One thing that was always true in Vegas was you got what you paid for. That was true even in the “free stuff” days. The cheap buffers etc were very much quantity not quality. I was never a big fan but the wife loved the shows some of which were pretty good. Seeing the Moody Blues in medium sized venue for instance.
It is said that Nevada has more ghost towns than inhabited ones. Seems the newest one is Primm, a cluster of casinos just over the California line. Most, if not all of them are closed, as is the one in Jean, about halfway between the state line and Las Vegas.
Well shite
There goes my Vegas trip
What do they think they are?
Canada ?
In 1991 I saw Fats Domino give one of his final performances at a Las Vegas casino. He didn’t sing, but he was still a virtuoso pianist.
